Oreos are dairy-free! they're the only cookie i really enjoy because i know i won't have any problems.

Wow that’s crazy how certain things affect different peoples bodies. Oreos is the only cookie that makes me have stomach problems which is why I always limit myself to a few at a time😖

You may have an intolerance to an ingredient in Oreos!

I'm lactose intolerant too and never had trouble eating Oreos.

Omg friend what do you think it is?😳 yes I just copied and pasted this from the Oreos container

UNBLEACHED ENRICHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, NACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMINE MONONTRATE VITAMIN B1), RIBOFLAVIN VITAMIN B2, FOLIC ACID, SUGAR, PALM OIL, SOYBEAN AND/OR CANOLA OIL, COCOA PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP LEAVENING (BAKING SODA AND/OR CALCIUM PHOSPHATE), SALT, SOY LECITHIN, CHOCOLATE, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR. CONTAINS: WHEAT, SOY. MONDELEZ GLOBAL LLC, EAST HANOVER, NJ 07936 USA CONTAINS A BIOENGINEERED FOOD INGREDIENT MADE IN MEXICO

Honestly could be anything from any of the soy products to the palm oil. Only way to find out is testing and elimination just like how figured it out you're lactose intolerant.

Yep, I think many of us have certain ingredients in these ultra engineered and preserved foods we eat that simply do not agree with the tummy. The tummy goes "what IS this? I don't like it. I'll just get rid of it! "

But trying to figure out which one out of 40 ingredients is kind of tough.

Me? I just slug down my cheap generic 9000 FCC lactase pills in preventative batches of 3 pills a few times a day, and some more before like a cheesy dairy meal---and it has REALLY calmed things down.

i know full well what my triggers are but the list is so fuckin long that its nearly impossible to avoid them

Mine was sugar and fat, turns out. I do a LOT better with dairy now if it's not stuck in something with a ton of grease or sugar. Or at least it's easier to predict.

Wait can I get those type of pills like over the counter somewhere? They seem like they would be helpful for me also

Yes, generic lactase tablets are widely available over the counter.

Walmart has a bottle of 120 tablets ("dairy relief") 9000 FCC strength for $10 USD. Amazon has them too.

You can buy higher strength pills like Lactojoy or the brand name Lactaid pills. But you'll pay more and that's just throwing money away. Certainly don't buy them at a drug store here in the US or you'll get gouged on price.

Lactase is lactase. You can always take just more pills to get more in your system. No real maximum dosage on lactase pills, but no need to take more than around 3 pills with first bite of dairy food. Or maybe 5 pills if you are going to wolf down a pint of ice cream or half a cheesy pizza. Lol. YMMV.

It could be too much sugar

I can't take the high fructose corn syrup in them. I don't tolerate that ingredient well anywhere. But there are many potential triggers here.

Wheat or soy sensitivities would be the obvious one to try.

As someone with the same problem, I've found out I'm intolerant to soy and soya also, unfortunately it's always in a lot of non dairy cookies, similarly a lot use coconut oil which I also have an issue with too.

I would look at different sources of sugar. The Fructose corn syrup is always a problem for me.

Natural sugar sources, dairy free chocolate, fruits, etc, are always better for my gut. Stuff with a lot of added sugar triggers a bowel movement. Juice from concentrate has added sugar so be careful of that too.

Breyers has an oreo ice cream that is dairy free. I never understand people who do this then complain when their stoamch hurts. Breyers, Lactaid and Ben & Jerry's all make amazing dairy free ice cream. So Delicious and Better Goods also make dairy free ice cream as well

2

u/wavystrawberrypunch 6d ago

So delicious brand is absolutely so not good. And it was Lactaid icecream but I think the Oreos really messed me up with it😞

If it were Lactaid ice cream, that is weird. Sorry, it made you sick :(

Might be a milk allergy. That shouldn’t do it.

You could be intolerant to all forms of dairy. Get a ninja creami and make your own ice cream. You can’t eat dairy join us on r/dairyfree

I cannot eat dairy or gluten. You live with it and enjoy what you can eat.

Wait, did you have dairy free ice cream but with non dairy free ice cream? What helps me a bit, but might not with you is to drink Lifeway kefir. It helps calms it down, the more I drink it the less issues I have. It's lactose intolerant safe but always test how much kefir you can handle

Some say probiotics can help settle the stomach and maybe Pepto bismol can helps. Please note the kefir helps easy the pain for me if I eat something I didn't realize had dairy. It's not a suddenly solid fix and have been increase my kefir intake. It MIGHT help.

Take lactaid before you eat ice cream and if it’s too late take Imodium
