Unfortunately unavoidable under the circumstances. I wish Stronny all the best and a quick recovery.

Hoping for the best for her

Oh. That's a much more sad reason than I would have expected.

Damn this is heartbreaking.  I know the Gen3 models were already in the works.  I wonder what will happen to them?

u/TotallyNotZack 13h ago

I thought all of them were doing good / alright

The business seems to be doing fine, but the shutdown is due to health issues of the owner.

Very sad, considering this was an agency that, by all accounts, had successfully targeted a niche & was also growing in a sustainable way as a result.

Even if you didn't like what they were putting out, to see it end not by any fault of the agency, but due to chronic health problems of the leadership/ownership, is a very bitter pill.

Well, that's a little blindsiding. Didn't expect that at all. What a shame, they were great fun – hopefully the talents keep on doing their thing if at all possible.

Man, this just… man… I was there since day 1, when DTL hinted at its inception. I remember the trailer, and the debut watchalong with Secret Subject & Angel_Steps. Thank Christ none of the talents are graduating, but my heart aches for all the girls. Reeflings, may we be strong for all of them.

This is genuinely concerning, considering both how much Stronny was doing and how passionate she appeared to be. And gen 3 was in works too.

Her health issues must be very very serious, if it came down to this and so fast too.

u/dziobak112 13h ago

Ok, anyone knows why they did that? I know that it wasn't the most popular agency, but this seems sudden.

From another thread, I read that their owner/head manager, basically top brass, has been hospitalized for some time and it's pretty serious. So yeah no leadership, no company unfortunately.

36

u/Karmaze 12h ago

If I had to wager a guess, the options were find a new leader, or dissolve the company and allow everyone to go their seperate ways.

Maybe Stronny decided this, maybe it was a group decision. Either way it doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

It's definitely a dignified death than watch a company rot with enshittification

It's a shame, but I'm glad it wasn't worse. No big falling out, no big drama or corporate shenanigans. Most if not all plan to continue what they're doing, albeit with some maybe being not as active while stuff is figured out. Unfortunately stuff like this just happens sometimes.

Although I do wonder what exactly happened in regards to her health, must have been pretty bad to have to shut down the company

u/azamonra 8h ago

Damn was not expecting this. So sad to see, especially since it's happening due to Stronny's health. Still at least all the girls get to keep their IPs and the company isn't going under because of bad stuff behind the scenes. I wish they didn't have to shut down but I don't think I could have survived finding out Stronny was a bad guy.

I hope she'll be ok.

25

u/Tripdrakony 12h ago

Man... this is genuinely quite sad. I like many of the talents and it's sad to see the company dissolve. I will still support the girls i like but I will miss the kinda family'ish feeling that they brought.

And of course Stronny. Girl is an absolute powerhouse of the anime asmr scene. She's been part of it for like how many years now? 7 or 8? I don't know what exactly she has but I hope she can recover swiftly.

13

u/Enttick 11h ago

So that's why Stronnys ... "other" persona, was more active lately

4

u/Rammite 4h ago

Can you share a name?

7

u/dbzhardcore 5h ago

Hope Stronny's health gets better cause that sucks the company had to shut down.

Also Jesus I keep forgetting how toxic and spiteful the vtuberdrama sub is cause most are celebrating the shutdown and hope more for her downfall.

If they can't be happy, they rather not one be happy.

7

u/Minimum_Teaching1060 13h ago

Last I heard of them was having auditions open for Gen 2; maybe they ran out of funds?

29

u/Sinfire_Titan Small Corpo Addict 13h ago

Gen 3, and it may be because the founder and owner had a major health crisis.

6

u/Minimum_Teaching1060 13h ago

Ohh shoot thats terrible! I hope the guy gets well soon.

But just from an outsider viewpoint; doesn't the second in command take over so the entire business doesn't fall? Did that not happen?

22

u/Sinfire_Titan Small Corpo Addict 13h ago

Stronny has a reputation as a workaholic, and did a lot of management by herself (on top of being one of the talents). I’m not sure if they had someone else who could step up in the first place.

13

u/bekiddingmei 12h ago

I think she did a lot herself because she was trying to avoid the exploding budgets that killed other agencies. But leaving Stronny as the single point of failure was unwise. And related to this, some of the girls may be unprepared to handle their own future. Hence the promises of ongoing support during their transition.

13

u/Sinfire_Titan Small Corpo Addict 12h ago

There's also the aspect of running an adult content company and risking hired help trying to creep on the talents; Stronny's talked about exploitation in the adult industry many times before, and it's not unheard of for people to try and weasel their way into working with vtubers as a means of getting "closer". IIRC Hololive had a situation like that.

9

u/bekiddingmei 12h ago

Considering the head talent manager at Idol that's a valid concern. But if you can't find someone to trust, this is the kind of situation that can happen instead.

(When Riro was terminated one of the reasons was inappropriate relationship with staff. At the same time, the head manager (who was married) suddenly left the company.)

1

u/Reasonable-Tiger-323 4h ago

Holo had two that I know of. Hitomi and Mel. Hitomi's issues got discovered quickly. Mel's manager took a lot longer but they finally dealt with it. I think they've had much better safeguards in place after that, but it's a constant concern.

how anyone can know that?is now up to the girls to decide with content they want to do

u/avelineaurora 10h ago

Not a popular thought around these parts, but "nothing of worth was lost."

Making the first fully lewd Vtuber agency then choosing solely to cater to the parasocial male-idol-fan crowd and go as far as shunning at best and being actively hostile at worst to the entire queer community sure was a choice.

40

u/Sayakai 10h ago

and go as far as shunning at best and being actively hostile at worst to the entire queer community

Yeah, that didn't happen.

u/StormStrikePhoenix 5h ago

and go as far as shunning at best and being actively hostile at worst to the entire queer community

What?

u/SamsungExynos2200 11h ago

I hate redditors because i absolutely but them at some blame for this shit as stronny Health (Both honestly Psychological and physically) was really Bad After the Ana Valens Shit happened again and suprise Reddit as so often cant understand that you can hate a trans or black or what ever Person for being an asshole and the fact they trans or whatever has literally no influence on it at all

After that stronny vallure recieved a Ton Tweets insulting them and saying stronny should kill herself cause „she Said the Same to a transgender Person that needs Protection“ and surely Even more private messages

26

u/PaleoManga 10h ago

Dude as upset as I am about VAllure’s closure, as sad as I am for Stronny, and as angry as I have been against Ana Valens; calm down and proofread. I genuinely can’t tell what you’re trying to say.

I will try to translate:

I hate redditors because I absolutely put some of the blame for this shit on them, since Stronny's Health (Both psychologically and physically) was really bad after the Ana Valens shit happened again, and surprise surprise Reddit can't understand that you can hate a trans, black, or whatever person when they are being an asshole, without those characteristics being part of why you hate them.

After that incident Stronny received a ton of Tweets that were insulting her and telling her to kys because she said the same things to a transgender person and they believe such a person needs to be protected; she most likely also received even more messages like that in private dms.

Translation over.

I hope that that made it much more understandable, and if you already understood it before this, then well, it was somewhat fun trying to decipher what they were saying.

Edit: fixed some spelling errors, that were annoying me.

u/PaleoManga 4h ago edited 3h ago

Ah, thank you. And that would make sense… if this happened in proximity to Ana Valens’ bullshit. That was almost 2 years ago and Ana’s career went so downhill after the hitpiece that she’s often either referred to as “Anal Violence” or just deadnamed. Also I thoroughly doubt Redditors had any effect on VAllure, positive or negative. The closest to an intersection is Synthia posting on GWA.

6

u/hitorinbolemon 9h ago

You can hate a trans person for "being an asshole" but a lot of the time online what counts as being an asshole is a much lower bar when it's a minority and people just take it too far and take the worst possible interpretation of everything someone deemed an asshole says or does.

And people took the shit against Ana Valens way too far. Just like anyone telling Stronny the same was taking it too far against her. AV has, imo, been pretty reasonable about acknowledging when she's mistaken after given some time.

5

u/Similar-Arugula-7854 10h ago

Stronny told Ana to "become a statistic" i don't think I need to explain why that is a incredibly gross thing to Say to a trans person neither side is innocent in this. But it's more damming for stronny and VAllure that their CEO went and said to a journalist that was bothering them to kill themselves.

0

u/The-Toxic-Korgi 9h ago

This. Telling someone to off themselves because they wrote an unflattering article is a much worse offense and more damaging to your companies reputation than anything that article may have been saying.

-23

u/Efectodopler117 12h ago

Do they have something like vshoujo type thing with their talents having right over their models… right?😟

22

u/Kendrakirai2532 12h ago

Even if they didn't, it says they're getting everything straight up in the announcement.

8

u/Efectodopler117 12h ago edited 4h ago

I just read it, ngl, i panic for a moment, so i wrote this before reading the thing.

Thanks for the answer 👍

u/cwolla98 12h ago

I mean the statement just said that they get to keep their IP’s so that’s good and it seems to be that the reasoning is because the owner is in serious mental health issues and cannot continue managing and doing the company

So out of all of the scenarios of recent company, shutting down, this is one of the more tragic to me, but I’m happy at least it ended not for awful reason nor has there been major controversies
