Technical Issue 1995 Waveraider 1100 issue
Hey guys,
My 1995 WaveRaider 1100 has a really weird issue.
(Still all original, 74 hours, no oil pump, mix it myself)
Whenever I want to go full throttle from low RPM it bogs down, shuts off and doesn’t move at all. I have to play with my throttle and sometimes add the choke to pick up RPM.
When I go faster then 7 mph this problem disappears and it feels super fast and healthy…
This has been a constant issue since 2023, and then I knew I had a bad cylinder (slightly lower compression).
Last summer, that cylinder (no.3) gave up and the piston split in half.
I completely rebuilt my top end (new cylinder, pistons, piston rings etc.) and was certain the bogging issue was gone.
However, it is still there, exactly the same…
Anyone else had this issue, or can help me fix this?
Thanks in advance!
TL;DR :
Engine bogs at full throttle at low RPM, issue is gone when going above 7 mph. Engine sounds healthy and jetski is still fast and normal.

Same exact issue on my 1100 raider. Full carb rebuild and replace the fuel pump.
Very likely it’s not that the carbs are dirty, it’s actually the rubber diaphragm in the carb being too old to properly meter fuel. No amount of sea-foam or any other additive will soften that 30 year old rubber, unfortunately. This restricts fuel flow and causes a lean bog, which can also kill engines running on premix (hence why I kept my oil injection).
And GET MIKUNI OEM KITS!! The cheap Chinese ones use the cheapest rubber they could get and are not at all made to the tolerances the carbs were built for.
And if you’re worried about tuning, don’t be. As long as you don’t pull or adjust the high/low adjusters you’re fine. Factory rebuild works perfectly fine with factory tune. Your needles are 1.5mm, you can go 1.2 with a softer spring to help with left hand turn syndrome, but if you’re riding easy 1.5mm needle and seat with a 95 gram spring. And yes, you need to replace the springs, the old ones are likely worn and will not have consistent pressure across all three carburetors.
