J-1 re-entry one day before visa stamp expires?
I’m on a J-1 Clinical/physician visa sponsored by ECFMG. My DS-2019 is valid until June 30, 2027 and has a valid travel signature.
I need to travel internationally from June 22 to June 29, 2026. My current J-1 visa stamp expires June 30, 2026.
Has anyone re-entered the U.S. on a J-1 visa one day before the visa stamp expiration? My understanding is the visa only needs to be valid on the day of entry, and the DS-2019 controls program/status duration afterward.
I’ll confirm with ECFMG/immigration, but wanted to ask if anyone had a similar experience with CBP.

Technically you can enter till 11:59 PM on the day your visa expires and you'll be admitted D/S.
I'd not cut it so close though, what if your flight gets delayed?
