British builder going to Ibiza? How easy?

Hi, my sister’s partner owns a place in Santa Euralia and wants me to come and do some refurbishments on his property. I am a builder based in England and have never been to Spain before. The work will last a few months and I’m wondering if anybody has any tips for me before I agree to go there? ie work visa, paying for building materials (how can this be done as I only have a UK bank account?), applying for planning permission/building permits, hiring tradespeople, etc.

Thank you

Pfff...it's EU, so better get in touch with a local construction company ( or maby an irish?) and do the job together- even if you get the permission to work there: spanish authoroties are a pain in the ass and will do anything to help u - not- . u need somebody understanding spanish law and construction regulations - and a good english speaking attorney u can trust. Good luck- tempting plan u got

Yeah, that is not going to be easy.

You are incredibly unlikely to get a work visa after everyone’s Nan voted for Brexit. This likely renders all the other points moot.

Just get cash and buy materials in cash? No big issue? Will be hot though. May not come back is another variable as you will realise how shit the Uk is.

Buying materials won’t be much of an issue, although there a big differences in certain materials, for example they don’t use skimcoat in Spain, they use yeso and mecafino which are shiiite. You won’t need a visa, you’re doing it for a family member, you’re not working for a company so I wouldn’t really worry too much. You will want a decent level of Spanish for dealing with the ayuntamiento (city council) for permits, failing that hopefully your sister speaks the language.
