Anyone tried the mobile backyard hibachi catering setups in HB

Post image

Honest reviews wanted. I'm planning my husband’s 40th birthday for next month and we have about 15 people coming over. I wanted to just book a big table somewhere down by Pacific City or Main Street, but dealing with weekend parking near the pier during summer is an absolute nightmare. I keep seeing videos for those Hibachi At Home services where a private chef brings a flat-top grill to your backyard and does a whole cooking or comedy show. It looks like a fun vibe for a party, but I want to know if the food quality is actually good. please let me know if it's worth the money or if I should just stick to a traditional restaurant reservation.

I keep seeing these posts on various community subs in both SoCal and the Bay Area and I can’t help but think this is some kind of viral marketing attempt

We had a great guy come do my parents 50th wedding anniversary in our backyard. Full hibachi setup. It was 3 years ago so before viral ad push. I can send you his info if you want.

Looked into these once and idk if it was a Covid thing or what, but the few I checked were all $50+ a person. Kinda steep for what it is imo.

I haven’t personally tried it but my BIL had some for a birthday and they enjoyed it. I’m not sure what company/person they hired

My (older) friend has done this for two birthdays now. Definitely a crowd pleaser and the chef’s personality made it more fun too.

We had MacNoodlezHibachiGrill come out for a party a year ago. He was very fun and the food was really good! I think he has more than just Japanese cuisine that he can do. I definitely recommend him if you go this route!

Not endorsing any one place. We did it for a large party in our backyard. Had a great time. The company was based out of San Diego and they drove up to HB with everything. Would do it again and recommend it as a unique and fun experience. They brought supersoakers with saki and the food quality was good. Price wasn’t egregious given the size of our group.

I attended a party with MacNoodlez doing his thing… it was a blast! I think he does Mexican food now too.
