Gear Gear Help

Very new to this hammock thing. Need the ultimate hammock setup for camping on a Michigan lake cove in July. No mosquitos allowed and need to be covered in case of rain. Not sure if there will be trees. Also a side sleeper if it helps. Main thing is I just want to be comfortable sleep at night and be able to transition into lazy during the day.

Any help would be much appreciated. Even Ai is all over the place. Some recommend a warbonnet and another suggested a haven?

DIY turtledog or tensahedron stand if size/weight isn't as much of an issue or their commercial counterparts.

$75 Onewind 11ft hammock with zippered bug net and suspension, or 12ft if you are over about 6'3" or just want the extra room. Add a tarp and underquilt or pad.

I'm a sidesleeper in a bed, but sleep on my back in a hammock, best thing is to try multiple nights before your outing.

Just curious. Is the underquilt or pad necessary in the summer? This is definitely the most economical route so far.

Yes, almost always. It's a personal decision, but many will get chilled even into the 70s under certain conditions, so better to be prepared than to be cold.
