Question Learning method

Am I learning wrong? I've stumbled across a few posts saying they're learning the chords and scales but I've just been trying to learn how to play songs. Should I stop that and start doing scales and memorising chords/notes?

If you think you are making progress, keep at it (learning songs). If you sense you are plateauing, consider mixing it up a bit and try adding scales and a bit of music theory. (Music theory helps you understand why the chords were chosen and how they fit with the scales).

If you do want to look at scales at some point. My guitar scales app as a lot of info in it - Scale Wizard

Don’t stop playing songs - that will have a bigger impact on your progress. The app I suggested is a way of getting into the theory and how it all fits on the fretboard. It could be a useful addition when you don’t have your guitar to hand.
