Question Learning method

Am I learning wrong? I've stumbled across a few posts saying they're learning the chords and scales but I've just been trying to learn how to play songs. Should I stop that and start doing scales and memorising chords/notes?

yes, until you can say why you learn something and how it fits your long term goals you learning wrong. Research is the answer. Watch courses and read books to understand your goals, what and how practice towards them.

Sorry, telling someone they are learning wrong is really poor advice when you don't know what their goals are. If the OP just wants to learn songs as their goal then what they are doing is fine. If they want to learn others things they need to fit that into their practice.
