Question Learning method

Am I learning wrong? I've stumbled across a few posts saying they're learning the chords and scales but I've just been trying to learn how to play songs. Should I stop that and start doing scales and memorising chords/notes?

Nope, if you are just starting out stick to learning songs, you’ll learn most of your basic chords from songs, so it’s not like you are wasting yout time.

Something that would really help you though is learning all the open chords+ their minor variations, and learn the a minor pentatonic scale, that’ll cover more than enough for now.
