DISCUSSION What’s everyone’s opinion on what the last good season of grey’s is?
for me 1-3 is peak television, 4 is genuinely good, 5 can be called good, 6 is decent, 7-8 can be boring but overall fine. 9 is it for me it’s the last one that’s fully watchable. 10 I’ll get through for Cristina and 11 I’ll try to for Derek’s ending but I still haven’t watched the last episode or 2 lol

I agree with your ranking. I have a couple of special mention episodes after 9 (the cookie episode, the dinner party, the beach episodes) but overall the show falls off halfway through the MAGIC era - starting off as consistently good, drops off when MAGIC ends, and just gradually gets worse aside from a couple of really good episodes in later seasons

I love season 9 and 10 for Cristina she has very underrated character development- from meeting Dr. Thomas and finding a love for teaching and good bedside manner. She returned and eventually found Shane as her protege as Dr. Thomas predicted she would, that final season drew parallels between her and Burke to show she had become similar to him, which was something she said was her dream in season 2. This foreshadows her leaving to take over Burke's hospital and bringing Shane with her rather than leaving him behind. It's a very well written and executed story.

Probably season 9 for me. Still good moments in 10 but some of the drama just started getting annoying for me rather than entertaining. All the main couples were having such petty fights and going back and forth over the same issues repeatedly.

In my opinion the last season that felt like " true Grey's" to me was 8 but it wasn't until season 13 when I felt the show massively declined in quality. After that its been hit or miss for me.

cristina's last season was the best for me. i rewatched multiple times, but this is the only time (this year) that i was able to even get past that last episode when she left. s10 was it for me. i'll happily restart again once i finish that episode...

9 and 10. 19 had some of the best episodes in years but it was too inconsistent to put it at that level

I liked parts of season 12, after that it’s unbearable

I’m on season 14 and I think it’s still going fairly strong. I don’t think it’s at its peak anymore and there’s less characters I love, but there are still really solid episodes. like the pregnant girl in prison wasn’t too long ago and that was one of my favorite episodes in a while. the season 13 finale had my heart racing in a way I haven’t felt since the plane crash. Jo’s ex husband storyline, Amelia’s tumor, Owen’s sister. there’s so much happening and I love it.

Yeah, that’s a common takeseasons 1–6 of Grey's Anatomy are usually seen as the peak, and it dips after that.Season 9 as a cutoff also makes sense since it starts feeling like a different show.

8 is the last classic season. 9 and 10 are slogs. Christina simply being there doesn’t mean she was being used interestingly or everything else going on was any good. 11 (mostly), 12, and 14 are improvements, however. Also, 22 was the best since 15, and the seasons have gotten steadily better since 19 (new showrunner’s first season), so I hold out hope that 23 can continue this trend.

To be, it’s all been passable television. The new people just follow the pattern of the old people. Besides, I’m usually on Reddit while it’s on TV
