Bailey in pediatrics
If Bailey did the pediatric fellowship, do you think Bailey would’ve been a pediatric surgeon?
ETA: I was disappointed she didn’t take it, because Richard became this absolute ridiculous child when she wanted to. Not writing a good letter of recommendation, being so mad at her for thinking of doing this.

I don't think she should have been one.
I'll probably get downovotwd for this opinion but thats okay.
Bailey is a brilliant doctor who would have medically probably done amazing in peds.
But she made it very clear her heart couldn't handle the chance of a kid dying every single case.
Every time a kid was involved she got more willing to break the law and coss the line.
The boy that needed the organs, she went and asked Derek to stop operating on the prisoner on death row so he could die and give his organs to the child. The very next case she has was a child and she literally stopped and swayed and got a little sick and said if that child even LOOKS like she was dying she was out the door.
She was told NOT TO give the little boy in the bubble DEACTIVATED HIV by his parents, and went behind their back and lied about it anyway.
However, there's instance after instance of her yelling at other coworkers about how UNOS doesn't play favorites and would scold them for trying to get their patient some form of preferential treatment.
She doesn't think rationally in peds because of the kids.

This is exactly how I feel about it
I think it would have fcked her up royally
She’d have been great with the kids & the good parents and obviously on the surgical side but it would have absolutely broken her

Adding to this, I think she’s the kind of doctor that a lot of unruly adult patients need. Top tier care while still not putting up with any of their rude bullshit.

She’s a mediocre adult doctor. But otherwise agree with this take. She would be a terrible peds doc.

She's pretty good when comforting the kid patients and she's a great mom, so yeah, I'd say she'd be a pretty good pediatric surgeon.

I honestly doubt the writers were thinking so far back when it comes to her motivations when writing about her and Ben

Oh that’s a good point, although she had every reason to be annoyed with him becoming a firefighter and not telling her.

She didn’t turn down the position because of Webber though. Yes, Webber acted like an ass about it but that wasn’t the reason she didn’t take it. Her husband gave her an ultimatum, she divorced her husband because of it and since she was going to be a single mom she wanted a steady job and not something she was going to have to put more studying into

Thank you for jogging my memory! I knew it wasn't due to Webber, and that Tucker had given her an ultimatum... then I got confused; I forgot she divorced him precisely for that reason - which is why she couldn't do the fellowship.

She would have been annoying af in person.
Shes annoying af anyway but worse when it comes to kids.

I don’t think she would’ve been good. She’s an amazing doctor, but there were multiple peds cases where she was too attached and too emotionally invested. Those reasons are why I think Izzy was not a good doctor
