Advice/Help Help me identify the age of this pup.
And what should I feed this beauty ? Her coat looks thin (just fostered her today)
EDIT: She is missing her front teeth on top as well (not sure what is it)

She might be a mix (Double due claws?) or she might be a Maremma or Kuvasz... so with a Pyr I would say less than a year but if she is any of those breeds she could be a full year.
Either way all three breeds should avoid chicken, assuming your in US I would suggest natural balance food

Wait avoid chicken to eat? Iām really sorry for such an obtuse question but I have an adopted Pyr mix and she just got hot spots this week and I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what caused it and I was wondering if it was chicken.

What are some of the allergy signs besides hot spots? Mines been eating chicken digestive health since 5 months old, plus chicken breast. No vomit or squirty poo . Kinda lazy yet I hear thats normal. My other dog is a hound X4/husky/chow so I suppose most dogs look lazy compared to him. Looking for suggestions. š thank you

My girl body temp rises which isnāt a big deal on its own but it makes a perfect environment for yeasty smelly and itchy ears/between toes.
Hives
Loss of fur
Lethargy which is hard to spot in low energy breeds like pyrs
Throwing up in extreme cases1

Thank you for your input. I dont believe mine is allergic at all then. I check his ears all the time (for mites and ticks) has 2 small hot spots but Im in Missouri, very humid here.

Itching is a big one for my pup (chewing and scratching), bad poops, lethargy.
My newfie is allergic to chicken and grass. The chicken allergy was figured out after a month of vet visits and $1k in testing. As a last resort we switched his food to a fish based one instead of chicken and all of the GI symptoms resolved. We rotated foods a bag at a time until settling on Nutrisource large breed (Salmon and rice) both he and my pyr have no GI issues with it. The grass allergy is more annoying to deal with tbh.
Imo, there's no harm in rotating their food. You can try something else and if it helps, awesome! If it doesn't, put them back on what they had before.

Those look worn away vs havenāt come in yet. Could have been from chewing at the bars of a kennel out of frustration.

Also might need that last small tooth pulled. May have roots in the gums that need pulled so they donāt get infected - worth asking a vet.

That muzzle is seriously cute, but based on the teeth and overall size she's probably between 8 months and a year old, could go up to 18 months if she's still filling out, so feed her like she's still growing and might want to bump up the protein and fat content since her coat does look a bit dull right now.

A definitely a baby (under a year) because of no helmet head, I would vote a mix. No badger coloring so probably not a collie mix although this what my boy looked like before his full coat came in after about a year.

Never heard it called helmet head lol! We say our girl always looks like sheās just had sunglasses on and took them off

Veteranarians partly look at a dog's teeth to estimate age. Looks like a very sweet pup.
