Photo "Great Pyrenees Mix" Puppy

Just brought home our new puppy, which the rescue said is half Great Pyr through her dad. They say she's 11 weeks. Very sweet puppy, very calm with our cat and baby. Do we think she's actually half?

They said the mom is herding mix. I'm hoping she doesn't get too big.

Oh okay, then there is a possibility that she is not. What is her current weight at 11 weeks? I would get a DNA test to be sure. She kind of looks like my Pyr mix when she was small.

Stella is mostly Pyr with a splash of Anatolian and lab. She has the classic Pyr double dew claws which I love, lol.

I'm not sure what she weighs, maybe 10-14 LBS? About as much as the baby, who is 12 weeks lol

lol, thank you! This is her today at 7.5 months. They grow up fast, she’s 72lbs now and so so so tall.

What's her shedding like? I'm so worried!

She sheds a ton, her coat is deceiving, lol. It looks super short but it’s slicked back. Towards the back is shorter but towards the top is about 4-6” long. She definitely has the coat of an Anatolian shepherd.

Thank you! yeah, the preliminary dna test said 100% cutiegirl and somehow also 100% stinkysmelly. Not sure the math on that one 🤷

Awe, very cute. Did the rescue have dad on sight? You could always do an embark test and see what it says.

They didn't have dad, no. She was being fostered with siblings and mom, then was transported to us across the country so we didn't meet any family.

Rescues make stuff up. Cutie.

Yes for sure they do. I'm thinking she likely does have 20-40% great pyr though! Maybe dad is half or more 🤷 she's soo much smaller and slimmer than we thought she'd be so we have her in our old dog's puppy harness and tightened up.

This was my Pyr mix as a puppy. He ended up being something like 47% pyr. (Then some pit, some Staffy, and a small amount of Bloodhound). All grown up he's about 65lbs but has so much Pyr personality

Yeah they look so much alike! I did a double-take when I saw your photo. He's only 2 now, so doesn't look too much different

She could be a pyr mix. Here’s mine at 3 months. She looks like she might be a bit bigger than yours. I think she was around 20lbs at 11 weeks. Mine is mixed with American Pitbull Terrier.

Also the rescue told us she was St Bernard/Lab, so I would definitely get an Embark test to see what her mix is!

This looks so much like my dog as a puppy. She’s 50% pyr based on the DNA test, and 50% bunch of other working breeds. This was my girl at 8 weeks. I hope yours develops spots too! My girl started getting hers at 16 weeks.
