Photo Appreciation post NSFW

This is an appreciation post for my best girl. Without her, we may have lost our boy. My apologies for the graphic photo.

This wonderful sweet dog Inca saved her brother’s life, and protected me as well. I have thought it before, but I mean it even more now, there is no better dog breed for me and my family.

My girl is 9.5 years old and my other is 3.5. We were walking on leash when a kid let out 2 adult pit mixes and their litter of puppies. We tried to stay calm and get out as fast as possible but the momma dog was out for blood. Every command I shouted they tried to follow, and finally when I called her into the chaos she got the assaulting dog off.

I almost cannot believe how well she listened, how quickly she acted, and how silly I was for not putting her in charge of the situation from the beginning. Dinner for them was fresh home made dog food with a pup cup for dessert, Homeward Bound on TV, and side of popcorn bits.

The best. No amount of days with them is ever enough.

It’s crazy, if I go to an off-leash park that’s one thing, but this was our neighborhood. 300 foot from our apartment and the kid just opened the backdoor for the dogs, not seeing us, and they all charged out at us. No responsibility, no accountability and breeding them too.

I think hormones in the lactating mom made her even more out of control, but the kid was too scared and unable to help.. and there were two big dogs! I’ve broken up dog fights before and worked a lot with animals so I did everything I could, even lifting the dog up, but she never let go of our boy. Then the other dog was attacking his underbelly and my dog was screaming for his life, deficating and urinating, not once able to defend himself. I got bit in the hand and that’s when I called Inca in, they were tearing my boy apart, I’d never seen anything like it before. If Inca wasn’t there our boy would be gone.

Right? My girl didn’t have a bite on her, too much fluff I think. Her brother had over a dozen, but is doing really well. Inca has been cautious of him when alerting about neighbors and the wind haha, still has to tell us of course!

He is healing really well so far! He’s not happy walking alone with me, will not go down our street, and definitely sees red when a certain color of pit bull type dog walks by. But we can work with that.

Inca is the best girl and she knows it! She’s even staying out of the way while Boo gets his medicine and wounds tended.

Oh she is beautiful and she's such a good girl!

She looks so much like my girl who is 50/ 50 BC. Though, we were attacked by a cat once and she ran away screaming...lol

Yes, yes she is! Beautiful and the best!

I got her DNA tested thinking she may have border collie in there, but nope, none! She does still take her orders from the cat though.
