Photo A Pyr indoor enclosure
It started half that size and at 7 months she started jumping over it 😂 let’s see how long this last. She was never crate trained. I couldn’t do it. This was my best shot!
(Shes only in there at night to sleep. Or if we run out to a store for an hr or so. I work from home and she spends her days at doggy daycare playing with friends)
Adding that we have 2 kiddos in the house - we have toys everywhere spilling out of the kids room and playroom so for her own safety ( she will eat the toys any chance she gets- yes she has plenty of her own but is like a bear sized raccoon) we really have no choice but to create the enclosure for when we very rarely leave the house lol

Me too! My Pyr us severely claustrophobic and nearly died as a result of a crate. But I am wondering if your system might be good for a patio? Can you give me a link please?

NVM…I see the link now. How did you secure to the wall? Mine would have this down in 2.95 seconds if it was not somehow attached to a wall or somethjng.

There’s little brackets you can get at Home Depot and screw them into the wall! It works!!

Bahahaha I mean…. You may be able to do it. My girl started at 10 weeks and after weeks of trying i decided it wasn’t a good fit to crate train and built the enclosure lol

It's mixed - our boy somehow broke out of his crate. We came home to the door still closed but the crate was all bent. We think he made a small opening and then wiggled out of it basically. I zip tied all of the joints to prevent that from happening, and then within a week or so he was sleeping in during the day on his own

how are you connecting the two ’storeys’ for want of a better term? permanently, with screws / glue, zip ties, to the wall? all of the above?
ETA: nice setup!

We never successfully crate trained our boy either. But we did keep him baby gated in the kitchen. The kitchen is now his safe place and he spends the majority of his alone time there during the days despite the baby gated being long gone. Though he is still just a baby. He’s 6.

We have 2 kids in the house and the play room is attached to the kitchen with the toys and she is like a raccoon with the kids toys or the kitchen or any room in the house would be an option 😂

Cats always have to take the giant dog beds lol
Last night I pulled the trundle out from under my bed that my two seniors sleep on, and 3 cats were startled awake 😂

I have to double check, lol. Is this properly secured to the walls? I’ve never seen these stacked on top of each other. Want to make sure they’re not able to fall on her!

I promise it’s secured! We tested it hard. Did 20 zip ties. We are going to the movies tonight and testing it. I will report back!

We have the entire hall leading toward our back door set up for our Pyr's enclosure. He will also eat every single thing that fits in his mouth, so I had to invest in another gate to barricade the hall to the kids' rooms... the kids call both locations "doggy jail" and "kid jail" and honestly.. they're not wrong. 🤣

I have a dutch door separating the front of house from back of house. Back of house is all bedrooms, laundry, backdoor/dog door, kitchen. Front of house is Front door, living room, dining room. This way I dont have to worry about workers or strangers being afraid. And I can just shut the door.

do you by chance have the link to brand you used? I’m trying to build a similar nook in my place but so indecisive about what gate to buy!

How sis she supposed to defend her flock while she’s in there? Mine get free roam
6
u/Jaded_Hovercraft5229 1d ago
She roams, she is hardly ever in the enclosure. It’s really for her safety when we aren’t home for an hr or two or when she sleeps at night. She’s only 7 months old.

Fair enough. Personally I like them to have full roam of the house primarily so they can be a line of defense. Anything less than 2 yes old tho, I get it. Hopefully she proves herself enough with time that you let her exercise her role fully to protect and guard. Good luck with the trex phase !!

I hate to be the one to tell you, but I think there is a dog sized opening he could squeeze through 🤪
What kind of dog bed is that?
