Help Duplicate Device Names?

Is it not possible to have duplicate device names in seperate rooms?

Device names such as Big light both in seperate rooms. I am on IOS and it seems to block me doing this.

No. You want to separate your naming conventions so that it knows which light in which room. You can do Big Light Bedroom and Big Light Living room. Of course once you assign lights to your rooms it can be easier to tell Google “Turn off living room lights.” or “Turn off bedroom light.”

I though the speakers where room aware.
In otherwords I wouldn't need to say ROOM NAME----DEVICE

Depends on where the speakers are. For example I have bedroom Nest speakers and I have assigned them to that room. I also have my bedroom lights assigned to that room. If I just say “Turn off lights” to that specific speaker then it will turn off the bedroom lights without any fuss. If I ask my kitchen speaker to turn off the bedroom lights then it will do the “Turning off three lights” response. In other words, in order for the speakers to be room aware for a particular device, both the speaker and the device have to be assigned to the same room first.

ETA: If I were to just say to my kitchen speaker “Turn off lights” then it will turn off all the connected lights in the house, which has accidentally happened before. That’s why sometimes it’s just easier to say [Room Name] + [Device Name] so it becomes second nature when asking any speaker in any room and you don’t accidentally do something in another room.
