Goodbye and thank you

Can only echo that really. Had some great times over the last few years and feels like it's run its course for parties.

Took us from a yo-yo club to a mid-table PL fixture. I wish him well.

Very weird, having all of the following feelings at once:

  • relieved this saga is over
  • excited about the change at Fulham
  • nervous about the change
  • anxiety that change could easily result in relegation fights
  • sad that this means Harry Wilson is probably gone

Harry was leaving regardless of what happened here. But I agree the weird range of emotions is interesting.

Silva defines the stability of the club over the last 5 years. That's going to be hard to replace.

I agree, but managers are very much the right person at the right time. He 100% was that person for the club for years. I just don't think he was anymore. It was time for both sides to move on.

Think Wilson found his level with us, some amazing moments but so many games where you forgot he was playing too

Feel like it was definitely time for Silva to go, wish them both the best

thankyou and goodbye, has given us some of the best memories in his years (wiping the floor with the champ, win at Stamford Bridge, those 2 5-0's in a week etc) but definitely feels like the right time.

Optimistic that our number 10's will be used as an attacking force again and we wont go hiding from March. COYW

Thank you for everything Marco! Especially for the Championship title and those wins over Chelsea.

Glad the whole "will he? won't he?" drama is over, but I'm sad to see him go. Made us an established Prem club after years of yo-yoing.

Nervous to see who will replace him and if that replacement will get sufficient backing.

Knowing us, the new manager will be appointed two days before the start of next season.

u/Impossible_Memory_85 1d ago

I think you meant to say two day after

But just before the transfer window closes, so it’s alright by Tony.

Wish him all the very best, thanks for everything

On par with Hodgson for me as best Fulham managers in my supporting life time (mid-90s onwards). He will be really hard to replace. The next manager after a good, or longstanding, coach is rarely a success.

I suppose the best thing you can say about our chances of the Khans picking a good candidate is the club has never been better placed to succeed since they bought the club, thanks to Marco.

A rare time when a club and a manager needed each other as much as each other. He had a reputation to rebuild and we needed someone with clout and vision to manage egos upwards and downwards. He did it brilliantly and pretty much made every player better.

The way you described Marco is the exact same place Roy was in prior to Al Fayed hiring him.

I suppose that is true. He'd failed at Blackburn and Inter but had done really well in Scandinavia since then. Marco hadn't had a job for two years before he came to Fulham.

Thank you Marco and good luck on the journey ahead!

Thank you Marco and farewell.

New manager, aging roster. Will be an interesting summer. Might be battling to stay up next year.

We lose Raul, Harry, Chuck, and JKA. Hope Jedi has a good cup showing and sell him high. Get a better striker and someone in midfield, and we could be in a better position. Hell, even the idea of using our number 10 differently excites me. We got stale and couldn't finish strong. I'd rather risk the chance of going down and it potentially working vs repeating the same season over and over.

Best we had in a long time.

Time for a worrying few months

Fair to say he hit his ceiling here, but also fair to say that ceiling is higher than most managers could ever get. Thanks for everything, Marco!

Thanks Marco, good luck at Benfica. I will say I’m happy to see this saga end. Since it has been months and months since it became apparent that he would not sign an extension, we all have been waiting for this shoe to drop. So it’s dropped. Let’s move on to the next leader.

I hope the next manager can elevate us past mid table status. Need a new striker too but I think we have a good squad

What a servant to the club. It’s a shame we couldn’t say goodbye in the Cottage. I hope TC makes his future clear before the last game of the season next year.

Moving forward I’m nervous and excited. We don’t know what we will see and we’re losing Wilson, Silva and most likely Raul. That’s a lot to replace. I’m excited to see a new system and I hope we can continue to grow as a team.

Thankful for the all the great memories. Shame it had to end like this.

Like him but tbh i think he took us as far as he could. Last two seasons we have blown good positions in cup and euro spots. Some suspect recruitment.

Thomas Frank seems a good fit. Added bonus that it would irk my Brentford mates

6

u/woodysweats 1d ago

I think it would irk fulham fans

2

u/skibidi-bibidi 1d ago

Wouldn't irk me

u/MobileStudio8123 1d ago

I think it would be a good choice myself, but we’d have to stop singing a certain song which refers to him….

For the last 30 years we’ve rightly given much more of a shit about the league than silverware. CL hopes are ridiculous, we’d be spreading ourselves too thin. I hope the next manager gets that too.

Kjetil Knutsen mentioned as a potential replacement in T minus... Only half joking (also a Bodø/Glimt supporter and feels like this happens every time someone not a big 6 team have an opening).

u/Impressive_Salt_7595 1d ago

Thanks for everything but both you and the team have got stagnant and we are getting outpaced by Brentford, change was needed.

1

u/Takeda_8 1d ago

Overall he did a really good job. But it kinda feels like the right time for a change strangely. We're in a good spot, but we need someone who'll stop the inconsistency and push us on. However, Nfi who that might be lol.

Get it over with. Marco didn’t get enough out of his player assets this year. Time for a fresh coach.

u/turantekin 18h ago

Thanks for everything you have done Marco!

Was nowhere near his ceiling with the club, never properly backed. The only people who welcome this fly over once a year for a game.

Relegated next season

I’ve heard a whisper Felix Magath and his magic cheese is coming back, so you could be right.

I fear you may be right
