Nourish move love - first trimester too intense?

Just wanting some reassurance. I’m 5w5d. I did IVF for the first time and was being overly cautious so I haven’t worked out much the last couple of months. Before that I had a decent level of strength/cardio. All advice has been to do low to moderate exercise in the first trimester as you don’t want to get too hot as it can be bad for the embryo (is what I’ve been advised).

Today, despite feeling not very great I decided I needed to get back into things, and have read great things about nourish move love. I did the first workout for 1st trimester and holy moly, I struggled. Which is to be expected because of the break I’ve had and how bad I was feeling today, so I tried to take it easy. But my question is around the intensity of the workout. It seemed pretty intense in terms of cardio. Even the trainer stated she was in the red zone. So I guess I’m having anxiety that if I follow this program properly I will be doing a moderate - high intensity workout which I’ve been told I should probably avoid. I would love to hear your thoughts? Like everyone, I don’t want to do anything that puts my baby's health at risk

Im not sure if the guidance is different for IVF so I would definitely defer to your doctors advice, but high intensity exercise is not harmful to you or the baby. "Keep your heart rate low" was unfounded advice from the 80s that was removed from official recs in like 2004. "Getting too hot" refers to a sustained elevated core temperature - think hot tubs and saunas (and hot yoga out of an abundance of caution).

Since youve had such a long break from exercise, just make sure you ease into it. Especially during the first tri your perceived exertion may be off because its common to be short of breath and fatigue easier

That’s interesting, I don’t know if it’s to do with IVF specifically, we don’t have any other health conditions other than unexplained infertility, but you’re right it could be that. But I’ve also read about it as general advice, for example one our hospitals that has a big focus on pregnancy also says “limit exercise to moderate intensity” in reference to getting too hot.  https://www.thewomens.org.au/health-information/pregnancy-and-birth/a-healthy-pregnancy/active-pregnancy

Thats curious and not particularly in line with current guidelines. A hot environment is an issue just in terms of your core temperature being sustained over 102° for a prolonged period - high-intensity exercise absolutely does not raise your temperature that much

Yeah it seems like they are being extremely over cautious, I appreciate your perspective, will help with my anxiety!

I’m doing nourish move love but treating it as a way to stay active and move my body. I take more breaks than her, I do 1-2 less reps than her (sometimes 3-4 less 🤪), and do less weight or even body weight. Just listen to your body! That said I do agree with other commenter that said to follow doctors advice because of IVF.

I did her videos during all three trimesters and yes they are kind of intense but I didn’t have any issues. There was only one instance in my third trimester where I had to turn off a video and stop because I just didn’t feel right

Some of the first trimester videos are more strength based vs cardio. I also found her videos intense but in a good way! Take breaks, listen to your body and doctors, I don’t see why you’d need to rule NML out completely
