I had the jr. Bacon cheeseburger a few days ago.

It was alright but holy shit do they mean jr lol

The whole thing fit in the palm of my hand. And I do not have big hands by any means

Yeah it’s more of a slider.

How much beef was it? 1.5 oz?

To be fair, how big were burgers back in the day? Food portions have just continuously continue to grow over time, and you are actually over eating when you order out(even though it feels good and tastes good to eat it all).

You have a point and I'm glad to see someone not claiming burgers used to be huge. However this thing is just pathetic and disappointing even by value menu standards. It is the closest thing to a slider without calling it a slider.

The updated $1.99 menu, which they just cut in half in order to feature it. Weird.

The $6 Smasher deal was infinitively better

u/DuvalSanitarium 12h ago

I don't know about that...

I'd take a smasher over the regular burger, but this deal comes with the chicken bites as well, the other one didn't

u/potliquorz 10h ago

I'd still rather have the Smasher, the quality is worth ditching the chicken bites IMO.

Ah, I didn't see the bites at first glance.

They were free with a coupon on the app with a $5+ purchase a week or two ago. A month ago, you could pair it with the $6 combo.

Sonic has been pulling through with some decent app deals where others have stopped

On the go i like BK’s app. Lets you combine rewards and deals which many dont. Brother also has Walmart plus which adds a daily 20% off coupon

Their regular burger taste like a cafeteria burger to me. Smasher is really really good.

Damn, this would’ve been $4 pre Covid

Yeah but they took away my cherry limeade slush :(

1

u/Evening-Holiday-8907 5h ago

Wtf? The cherry limeade was their flagship slush flavor. This is the most sonic-related upset since they stopped doing peanut butter shakes

Eh, maybe if it was the double smasher or double cheeseburger. Stingy with a single patty

1

Their single cheeseburger has similar calories to a double smasher. The patty is a single but it’s more meat than a single smasher patty.

So this is the new trend and apparently it's working, Taco Bell Luxe Boxes, MCD has the Meal Deals, Wendy's has the Biggie Bags, Arby's has the Meat & Three. I give Cookout a pass with the trays because, I just do.
They make ordering a la carte really expensive and offer bundles at a discount. I like the regular combos with sandwich, fries, and a drink or just ordering what I want in any combination but it costs too much to do that now. I don't want chicken bites and some dessert bullshit.

Getting just a sandwich and fries with no drink used to be a money saver :\

The thing that I notice is that it seems to be a spreading trend amongst huge brands and will probably become popular in small joints if they are smart enough to copy it.
I hate it personally as a consumer but it's proven or else everyone wouldn't be copying it.

I know people hate on Sonic but the ones in my area all closed and I miss it so much. Their ice cream options were wayyyyy better than Dairy Queen.

Too bad as someone who lives in Kenmore the closest one is Everett

I’d like to try it tho

Too bad Sonic sucks now.

Just got this and an extra chicken bites for free with $5+ purchase. Great deal. I will say sonic isn’t as consistent as it used to be but they can still slap and at this price, it’s great.

Make it $5 and get rid of the chicken bites. I can’t stand this trend of $7-8 dollar “deals” that include such superfluous stuff.

1

u/Ada_Pearce 13h ago

Are their chicken bites real chicken or mcnugget 'chicken'?

2

u/Rioraku 12h ago

Mcnuggets are chicken. It's just ground to what's essentially a meat paste.

5

u/DuvalSanitarium 13h ago

Whole meat chicken and pretty dang delicious in my experience...although quality of Sonic is very location dependent, the ones near me are some of the best run fast-food in the area.

1

u/Faux-Foe 12h ago

They have less meat than a McNugget.

Comparable to a Wendy’s nugget cut in half. The breading is not good and the bites tend to get overcooked due to the small size.

Make sure you get sauce when you order, they tend to be really really dry.

No, pass, will not eat lol
