Eq legends classes

So what is everyone planning on rolling for legends? Not exactly sure how it will work but I have been thinking about this and my favorite class is mage so I will definitely be a mage, I am thinking mage / druid / shaman there is a bit of overlap there but I feel like it can do a bit of everything including ports, thoughts? What are you all planning on playing?

Gonna go Ranger as my main. Generally my favorite class when it's an option in RPGS plus in original EQ was my main from vanilla through PoP / LoY before I quit. Almost definitely a bard for secondary (never played one so wanted to use something new) and third will be a druid or a wizzy (just to get the ports then will switch it). Kinda leaning Druid.

Third slot though once I have my ports i honestly am not sure yet. Thinking maybe Monk or Pally but IDK yet.

I think you may be incredibly happy with RNG if you stick with it. Melee is good, the spell progression has new stuff, the Invocations make that better, and later on bow stance and damage gets better. People may sleep on RNG because of old memes and jokes. You'll be laughing as you roflstomp things once the build takes off.

Definitely Ranger as main myself too. Really enjoyed playing it as my main at the vanilla EQ release, and a lot of nostalgia attached. Haven't played any of the live servers since i lost time to play around PoP. Though i have some idea of what came after on a quick level private server 10ish years ago.

As for 2nd and 3rd classes likely ill just be cycling through them for what i find fun. My memories of what i found issues with will hopefully either be addressed by the extra classes or will have been addressed by all the changes over the years.

This multiclass system reminds me of Final Fantasy 11, and the sub job system there which i also sank a lot of time into.

Also thinking ranger + bard. Was debating shaman as the third to not have overlap with spells between them and Druid plus shaman has so many good stat buffs. But I’ll probably also level Druid for the ports, who knows maybe I’ll like it more.

For Devil's Advocacy... Here is something to consider.

You have a finite number of spell gems you can use. Yes, you can expand that with AA, but you still have a limit.

Your Bard stuff is going to take 5 spell gems if you want to run all of the passive effects you can. That will leave you with limited number of gems left for your other class spells.

If you really wanna be a RNG/BRD/DRU... then go for it! You won't have enough spell gems for all 3 of those class spells anyway, and you're going to have to make some choices. So, why not just cherry pick whatever is the best thing for whatever you want to do?

Are combos like SK/NEC, PAL/CLR, etc... going to run into overlapping spells? Yeah... but you can't run all the spells anyway so does it makes sense to limit what you may find fun? Plus you can change things as you like so I say... go for whatever makes you happy. 😃

That’s a good point and good advice. Shaman has the big buffs so I figured I’d mostly just swap to memorizing the buffs, cast them, then put a heal on, but the buffs probably aren’t that much better than what you get with Druid given they get AC and dmg shields.

ranger is a bold main for a fresh server launch but points for sticking to your roots. just know that pulling your third slot into a monk is going to make you realize how much downtime the ranger actually has. bard secondary is smart though. having that haste and mana regen running behind you while you track makes the leveling process way less painful.

Yeah, tbh been doing more thinking and considering a War or that Pal more now over the monk haha. Extra aoe via cleave and tankability with the war. If going with Pal tankability, undead slaughtering and could pop one of their healing spells in the spellblade slot if I don't want a rng nuke.

lol part of the fun of this is all the theorycrafting 😃
