Advice Realistic EM programs as an MD applicant with academic probation

had to retake 2 shelf exams in M3 so was put on academic probation. passed both retakes but the academic probation status won’t be removed till November, and was told it will show up in 2 places on my MSPE. I’m applying EM and have my aways and stuff lined up, but realistically what kind of EM programs should I be setting as my target goal. MD student in northeast and want to stay in northeast. im just quite nervous and want to match at a non-malignant program and be happy. my advisors are all telling me it won’t matter that much for EM, but I feel like they’re just telling me what I want to hear😭

It wont matter that much for EM. EM is pretty forgiving if youre willing to go to BFE and/or a bad/new program.

St Luke’s Health Network is a solid program in the northeast (Lehigh Valley) that might be realistic for you.

Also, you definitely should still be able to match to EM, so don’t stress about that part too much. Just might have more limited options is all. Apply broadly, interview well, and you’re all set.
