This gives the same energy as the scene in the Office when Michael starts baby talking with Andy. “Andy sowwy”

The word eepy makes me want to commit genocide

What sort of adult toddler is babytalking a stuffed shark anyway??

They’re not. They’re babytalking to a toy shark to other adults on the internet. This is beyond cause for a genocide

i actually think the word eepy is funny sometimes. depending on the context ofc, but i use it myself every now and then. these other awful words? not so much

I used to hate eepy but I’ve come around to it. In moderation like vi says

I've found eepy and mirin are doggo designed for people who think they're too mature for doggo, such as my brother.

I love sharks but calling them "shonkies" is absolutely diabolical

Man... y'all fucking haters. Let people be happy like wtf? Not your cup of tea? That's fine. Don't put people down for it though.

This aint putting people down. It’s putting the language down.

I just don't understand why how someone talks matters to you. I came off more aggressive than I meant to because I was tired- so sorry about that.

My question is why it matters to you??? You'll probably never meet these people in your life- isn't there already enough negativity?

It’s not about the people, dude. It’s the irritating language. Sure there are more important and more upsetting things. But I’d like to take a break from those sometimes and laugh with others about ridiculous words like “hoom” and “Ebbe”. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Apology accepted, and that’s very kind. Even if your comment was aggressive it’s alright, because you seem genuinely interested in hearing our opinions :)

In all honestly, I didn’t know of this subreddit at first. I didn’t like words such as doggo or anything, but once I discovered this sub, I liked what a lot of people here were commenting - about the “why”.

Personally, my strongest criticism of it, is that it always ends up being this “babytalk” that people do for their animals. But why not just speak to these animals regularly? They want to give the animal a regular voice, but they also make the animal sound dumb?

These animals grow to be pretty smart creatures, they understand full words and sentences their owners may say, in that owner’s native language too! But this kinda babytalk makes them seem dumb and silly instead of respecting their level of intelligence. I mean, we talk that way to babies too, but its cause a baby genuinely cant make most pronunciations, so we try and help the baby saying mama or dada and such. But do we keep the babytalk going into their 20s and 30s? No, we respect them for the intelligent beings they are, and speak clearly.

I’m all for anthropomorphising animals, but why not let them speak like a regular human, like how we give regular voices for bugs bunny, for daffy duck and mickey mouse? I used to have toys, and yes I loved giving em all dialogues and such. But talking like this feels like they wish to dumb down a creature and have it speak like it’s mentally challenged and they think doing such a thing is “cute.”

I like that this sub makes us block out/blur out usernames cause I’d never shame a person for doing so. I’d shame the act of it, that a mere sight of another sentient life can make a grown man speak in this incredibly annoying babytalk. But also, yeah, it does feel soo annoying and cringy.

The entire purpose of this sub is dragging this sort of language. “Doggo Hate”. Why are you here if not to join in? Just to… put people down?

I just don't understand why how someone talks matters to you. You'll probably never meet them in your life. there's already enough negativity in the world. I did come off more aggressive than I meant to- I was tired. And for that, I apologize. Was not my intent.

You should use your sincere and earnest concern for others on a different sub, where that’s the entire point.

why even look at this stuff if it makes you mad? i personally don’t like it either but it’s entirely harmless.

7

u/Edelkern 16h ago

Doesn't the same logic apply to your presence on this sub? Why are you here then?

3

u/stowaway36 17h ago

How dare you

2

I’m sure there are a few harmless things that irk you, assuming you are a human being. Go ahead and visit subs about that.
