Completed My first dry mounted piece, done for my son!

Post image

Hi! Finished this guy months ago and finally got it dry mounted and hung up for my sons room! This is Dancing on the Ritz by Spangler.

I got it mounted at Hobby Lobby for $14 on white board. I wanted a black backing but she said they dont have the materials to do one that long with black, so went with white. Doesn't really make much difference though as you cant see it anyhow really which is good. She said they get multiple diamond art pieces a week that they dry mount which I thought was very cool so many people enjoy the hobby around here!

I have two more Spangler pieces I need to get mounted and hung up. Definitely a good experience! I am glad I ended up going this route as i had been considering custom framing but the expense was going to be too far outside my budget given I had multiple pieces to hang.

That looks so awesome! What size is it? I am now strongly considering checking if Hobby Lobby can dry mount my custom piece! Do you seal it before they do the mount, or do they seal it? Or did you seal it when you got it back? How long did it take them?

This piece was 41 by 20 inches! I did not seal it before or after. I had done a few trials of different seals in the past and never liked how any of them came out personally. So I just left this one alone.

It only took like 5 minutes! Was super fast and they put a plastic sleeve over the entire thing when done for safe transport which was nice. I got a smaller one done I need to hang up as well that was 22 by 29 inches and it was same price as well.

That’s so awesome! Mine is right around 36x24, and I was NOT sure how I wanted to frame it. Dry mount seems so much better than an awkward frame, especially since it will hang above my headboard. Better to not add so much weight, just in case, lol

Yup I would have had to get a custom frame which would have been soo heavy and expensive. Plus if it somehow fell being in a toddlers room worried me. I just put this up with command strips and worked great!!
