Tips / Tricks / Tools Honest advice

Post image

Im pretty new to this but I've fallen in love with it already. I've done a few round projects and I've just started working on my first square canvas (a cheapie to practice before I get some better quality ones). I dont have any bought tools but I am looking to at least upgrade my pen. Im curious as to whether I should invest in a straightener. I like to single place and I dont think that'll change. I'll include a pic for reference on my work. I feel like they're pretty good, but I realize we can be blind to our own weaknesses. Thanks!

That's really great work. You could get a straightener, but I'd be using it mostly around the edges of the piece. You're doing everything right.

Beautiful piece, by the way.

Yep, I was going to say the same thing. I started out thinking I needed a straightener but somewhere along the way relaxed my uprightness about the finished product.

For me diamond painting is more about the process and less about the perfection. If my drills are slightly wonky or askew but I had fun doing it, it doesn’t matter. Plus when you actually step back to a 4-5 foot viewing distance for the most part gaps are not visible.

Also, I had some trouble with straightens just exacerbating things. They can scratch the tips of the drills or dig into the glue.

To each their own however! A lot of people swear by them and really take their time lining everything up perfectly.
