Is it common for certain weed companies to claim their edibles don’t get you high for legal reasons?

So I’m from Minnesota where weed is 100% legal for medical and adult use. I ordered a jar of 15 mg edibles from a website based in Florida, and in their description for the product, they say their gummies don’t get you high but just make you relaxed. But they also said that their product contains 0.3% THC in dry weight, so I know they’re not supposed to be just CBD gummies. It just says hemp extract, which I assume is just THC because I’ve bought MN edibles which have hemp extract as an ingredient which is normal. Is it normal for companies in otherwise illegal states to make weird claims like this and not be clear about what’s in their product or what it does? I also assume they may be delta 8 gummies, but they never specified which type of delta it was. I assume this is some kind of legal loophole they’re trying to take advantage of. Anyone have answers?

I used to work for a hemp derived cannabis company and we would avoid the terms “high” in order to

  1. Lay low - LE was way more likely to raid “smoke shops” than “CBD stores.” If you aren’t openly advertising getting high (even online), you’re going to raise less alarm bells

  2. Target certain clientele

A lot of people want to feel/get high without “getting high” because they still have a stigma around cannabis. Avoiding the word high helps to not scare people away!

  1. CYA - if you don’t claim that you’ll get people high, people can’t complain that they didn’t get high

This one was a huge one I’d deal with. People would ask for refunds (occasionally) because the gummies/drinks/flower “didn’t get them high like they should” and we could be like “it doesn’t guarantee anything, that’s your own risk”

I’m not saying it’s ethical or right, to be clear. My ex bosses are bad people! But that’s how they’ve done it

Yes it is common. Just another reason to legalize it.
