Update

* Fighter card is 90% there - Fighters are dynamically filling info about their tribe/class/sign, their stats, their SEF, islands are still not dynamic, also their AI generated, because I couldnt find good photos of them, in the future I will remake them in 3d -> 2d so they look like the original. With the next post, where I will also announce a discord, expect to see the functionallity to swap fighters connected to the menu buttons

* The fighters in the main menu are now according to the original game

* Fighters now have shadows on their feet

Inventory wip

UI is pretty time consuming for me right now, next is the fighter/gear card, so thar i can link the swap functionality for fighters, after that I will be doing the fusion so leveling up is possible and then missions.

Progress update

The home UI is pretty much done, I dont have the icon for the journey button yet, its very tedious to restore them from screenshots that are not the original 640p resolution, so I either have to redraw or fix them.

Anyways, everything you see here is not just hardplaced buttons, those are dynamic shadowcasting buttons with dynamic label for the notifications/item counts on the different buttons, the crowns as you can see are also dynamic and ready to be hooked.
I restored a lot of UI elements and another reason progress is not as fast as you might expect is because I am extremely pedantic. if you compare to old screenshots you will see is 99% pixel perfect to the original and literally nothing is hardcoded. Those are properly setup UI.
Oh and also I am an extreme noob at UI, my main power is backend 😃

I really wanted to post an update, so thats the reason the energy/bp/class sections are missing :)

Send me your DOT screenshots!

Hello everyone, this is my third post already, so I can even announce that I am recreating the game, I am very very passionate about it and I dont intend on skipping on details. Theres a lot of assets available, but also alot are missing. Right I am on the search for all UI elements, and the button in the video you see, is recreated from a screenshot. So please send me any high quality screenshots that you have. The main one i am looking for is the home, I could not find any so far. The higher the quality, the better, and dont crop, if possible at all. I will be doing that in LibreSprite - to perserve max quality. I am happy with how those buttons turned out, so any help is appreaciated.

A bit more detail about this recreation - I have worked on it 8-10 hours a day for the past 2 weeks, and the reason you see so little "visual progress" is because I started the project with the network architecture and the dedicated server. The current functionality:

Dedicated server, which acts as authority for the game and stores player progress.
Clients (win, android, ios) which authetincate via email (firebase) and receive player data from the server.

Initial inventory component/ band component (the fighters you saw in earlier videos are actually owned fighters for the player, not hardcoded gifs), and a playerstarter pack which dictates what fighters and resource a new player will receive.

I will be regularly posting updates. I dont have an estimate on when a demo will be out, but what motivated me to start this, is first - I loved the game, second, the DOTO project (nothing personal) is just not gonna cut it for me and I just wanna play the game. The progress is incredibly slow, especially given its not a solo dev doing it, the game is laggy (idk how), the community there is extremely toxic, their priority doesnt seem be visuals, but rather quantity of fighters, so even after nearly 9 years, they still dont have animations. This is not an insult, its just the reason, why I am starting the "yet another DOT recreation".

For now I will be developing it solo, but help with spritesheets and UI elements, is always appreciated. If you are interested, contact me. :)

Help identifying a Defender!

Frontiers of Exelon, a fan-made spiritual successor to Defender of Texel

Hi all, I've been working for a few months on making a follow-up game to D.o.T., with the help of other ex D.o.T. and DOT:online people. If you're not familiar with DOT:online, it was a fan-made project that recreated DOT, it was on for years but is currently down.

Frontiers of Exelon aims to be as close as possible to D.o.T. with both more modern and new features, it's been in development for 3 months now with a first alpha release planned after the end of 2025.

We are currently borrowing D.o.T. original sprites as we work on our own ones who will be faithful to the original style.

LastUpdate (i'll post here)

game flow is performing as i wanted it to, did run into some hiccups in the code on the enemy spawns / pvp variant of event but I'm pretty sure i got it sorted out (i'll know for certain once i finish the ui for the combat screen if the three line swipe function is handling as i expect it to) . Still figuring out the art nonsense but as it currently stands I've deadass just found as many of the unit assets that i liked / could and begun applying them as visual placeholder sprites to the stuff I've created in order to showcase more or less what I'm aiming for landed on the 2d world project for the decision in that regards though idk exactly how I'm feeling about that choice guess I'll be seeing the further i get in the process. anyways still NEED to locate a pixel artist who's more or less willing to get in on the ground floor of this project with me for a share of it in its entirety (i.e ownership and access to all future funds it may produce ) lets make some magic happen because cmon people do ya'll know how much money gets funneled into these games (people play diablo immortal and like there are 4 other versions of the diablo franchise/series that actually aren't pay to play) but i digress. any more updates i do about the game will land on the reddit space i made. r/APixelWorld (there isn't shit there yet though so i guess stay tuned or don't lol) here's what the home screen is gathering up / looking like. also if anybody is good at / knowledgeable at using the unity engine maybe consider contacting me (I've literally been learning everything myself so not necessarily opposed to teamwork making the dreamwork just don't have a team lol )

84cs files written that's finally all compiling together ;-; I'm deciding whether to do the 3d build environment with 2d rendering capabilities or just a 2d environment and attempting to make it work there. its all being hooked up inside the scene today and I'll begin doing mock flow testing to ensure everything works but here's my current top level overview of everything i have going on inside the game

i'm attempting to create my own version

look tbh im brand spanking new to this unity stuff however I've been making a decent code base for my idea/ own version of how i want the game to work/look I'm trying to establish a fair and fun gacha game that reminded me of dot but not one that's gonna get corrupted with the live event and pay to win / further progress shenanigans yeah i still want your paying to be valued in certain areas but i also wanna give free to play a way to engage even if they aren't able to drop cash (I'm doing this by ensuring pity rates on featured unit banners that are written in based off of the rarity f the unit I'm also trying to ensure that by playing story chapters to a certain number will give enough currency to hit pity on a featured unit banner of even the highest rarity and ensuring that players are allowed to obtain this multiple times via chapter reward resets occurring on enough consecutive playing days look im out to make a fair gacha that makes acquiring a single copy of the unit still feasible while having the bonus copies will ensure ease and consistency i mean it . my honest biggest current issue is setting up the different Ui menus that will open and close but I've got the ideas behind them pretty down pact (script wise that is ). after the UI issue / setup with eh actual items and prefabs gets cleared though my next biggest issue is idk what the fuck to do in the realm of art /animations I've tried a little of pixel lab but I've gotta say its not necessarily my niche. so if yall know anyone or have the skills to do so lets chat about it because i seriously wanna bring this to life even more and collaborating would probably save me loads of time (though im not necessarily opposed to doing it myself
