Hey everyone,

Are there any "old-timers" around? I’m talking about the ones who lived through the Arma 2 DayZ Mod era—Origin, the glorious Epoch days, and eventually the absolute chaos of Overpoch.

I’ve been feeling incredibly nostalgic lately for that specific vibe. I miss the sheer variety of maps and specialized servers we used to have. I even miss the stuff that used to drive us crazy: the intense firefights over AI missions, the high-stakes combat at airfields, and honestly, even the campers waiting outside safezones.

There was something unmatched about spawning in, deploying your bike, and heading straight to the front lines. Or finally finding a car and sprinting into an industrial zone just to find that one missing wheel. Not to mention the pure adrenaline of rushing toward helicopter spawns right after a server restart.

Does anything out there today actually come close to that experience? I’m looking for something that captures that same loop of progression, atmosphere, and "pure" action.

What are you guys playing now to fill that void?

It made me laugh to think back on it, especially when a friend told me that, up until the 30-second mark, none of what appears in the video can actually be done in DayZ Standalone.

Those were the days of that early DayZ; I was lucky enough to stumble upon a bunch of mad lads who made us the kings of that server – I think I was playing for about 11 hours a day.

What’s up with the zombies on dayzero servers …. The ones wrapped specifically like a zombie lol. Why do they one tap and instant cut or death 😭

Im back playing Dayz after years of a break, i am wondering what mods today resemble the old Epoch Arma 2 Dayz mods ?
