The Dark Souls III intro states that "Ash seeketh embers". However, Ash already found a Pokémon capable of using Ember all the way back in episode 11 of the anime. This was a subtle nod to how going for so long without winning a League was causing him to go Hollow and lose his memory.

This means Pokémon canonically exists in the universe of Dark Souls. The Ashen One was stupid since he never used any in his battles.

I think Michael Zachy realized this and fixed it in the spiritual successor, Aged Circle, since you can use summons Pokémon on your journey to become Old Ruler.

I thought I was on r/shittymoviedetails for a second, lmao
