Bike shops - Renton/Seattle

I will be in Renton the next couple of days and was wondering if there are any good bike stores to look for road cycling clothing? The Houston area has pretty much nothing so I wanted to try another city. Looking for a store that carries any or all of Assos, Castelli, Rapha or other good brands. Being able to try on different brands can be a huge help for future online purchases too. Thank you u/cycling-expat for catching my mistake.

You may want to check out Metier or Cascade Bicycle Studio if you’re looking for high end. Good Weather Bikes is about to close (bummer) and so is Rapha (not sure if they have closed yet) so not sure about their selections.

Just adding to this, I know Gregg's in Greenlake has Assos and Castelli, but Metier will be much easier to get to if you're around Renton. Metier has MAAP, not sure what else.

Last time I was there, they had Assos and PNS, with more space devoted to pns.

The Rapha clubhouse/ store is closed. Good Weather isn’t closed yet (looking for a new owner). Your best clothing option is probably Metier or Element Cycles in Redmond. A lot of shops aren’t carrying a ton of inventory, the cost is just too high.

Cascade Bicycle Studio ~5 years ago (under previous ownership) had a full size run of a Fizik shoe so you could try them on and figure out what size you wanted, and then they could order the specific model you actually wanted. This was something their manager told me they were thinking of doing away with (and did) because even that was a lot of money to tie up in inventory that a small-ish shop just doesn't move very quickly.

help for future online purchases too.

And you've answered your real question: why bike shops have moved away from carrying apparel.

Congratulations!

I would buy from shops if anybody had anything (or if there were even any shops)...

REI. The Seattle store is a "flagship" and so has more inventory. Pretty sure they carry Rapha, Canari and Pearl Izumi. They will also have a re/supply section which is returned and discontinued items, but purchases are final.

There’s a Rapha club storefront in Capitol Hill, I heard it’s closing not sure if it’s gone yet but def swing by there then go to Good Weather bikes, another Capitol Hill neighborhood shop that is sadly closing down soon. R+R up north in U district is the classic place where people get custom fixies, I remember them having clothing. Recycled cycles in u district is my favorite, excellent new and used selections. I don’t know any in Renton, sorry
