Self Promotion I got tired of the web being "read-only", so I built an open-source extension that lets you permanently erase, reshape, and annotate any webpage.

Upvotes

Adnota turns your browser into a canvas:

  • The Eraser: Click on any annoying: ad, popup, or sidebar and delete it. The best part? It stays deleted even if you refresh or come back tomorrow.
  • The Highlighter & Notes: Mark up text and drop sticky notes directly on the page for your research or AI prompts.
  • The Resizer: Drag and drop or resize cramped layouts.

Absolutely private. No cloud, no telemetry, no accounts. Everything saves locally to your browser. It’s also 100% open-source (MIT licensed).

It just went live on the Chrome store today, completely free. What's the first thing you'd erase?

Idea Validation / Need feedback If you want an Apple-style world clock and time zone converter in Chrome, I just built one

Upvotes

I always liked how clean the world clock feels on iPhone — so I made something similar for Chrome.

TimeMate is a lightweight time zone tool that lives in your browser toolbar. One click to see all your cities, each with a sky gradient that reflects its actual time of day — dawn, midday, dusk, or night.

It also has a built-in Converter Mode: pick a time and instantly see what it looks like across all your cities.

Free, no account needed. Would love your feedback❤️👇🏻

Sharing Resources/Tips I built a minimalist, zero-tracking extension to freeze the YouTube homepage feed.

Hey everyone,

I recently realized I was losing way too much time to YouTube’s recommendation algorithm. I’d go to the site to look up a quick tutorial for a research project, and the infinite scroll on the homepage would immediately distract me with 40-minute video essays.

There are definitely other YouTube blockers out there, but I found a lot of them either had way too many toggles and menus, or they asked for permissions that made me uncomfortable. I just wanted a simple "on/off" switch for the doomscrolling.

So, I built Freeze Tube.

🧊 How it works

It’s a super lightweight Manifest V3 extension. When you click the popup and toggle it to "Freeze Feed," it injects a local script to replace the YouTube homepage recommendation grid with a clean, static interface.

You can still use the search bar, check your subscriptions, and watch videos normally—you just don't get ambushed by the algorithm the second you open the site.

🛡️ Built for Privacy & Performance

  • Zero Tracking: It does not collect, store, or transmit any analytics, web history, or user data.
  • No Remote Code: Everything is bundled locally. It uses vanilla HTML/JS/CSS.
  • Minimal Permissions: It only requests storage (to remember if you left the switch on or off between sessions) and host access exclusively for youtube.com.

It's completely free, and I originally just built it for my own productivity, but I figured some of you might appreciate the ultra-minimalist approach.

I'd love to hear what you guys think, especially if you spot any edge cases where YouTube's layout updates try to bypass the freeze!

Asking a Question What is the current best framework or setup for building Chrome extensions?

I previously used Plasmo, which worked well, but development appears to have stalled over the last year.

Are there other recommended frameworks or setups for building Chrome extensions?

Thank you

Looking for an Extension What discount extensions are worth using in 2026?

I haven’t ever kept up with discount extensions and wanted to see what people are using these days. There seem to be quite a few options now and it’s hard to tell which ones are reliable and what they actually do. Which ones have worked well for you, consistently find discounts (pref, and feel safe to use? Are there any that stand out from the rest?

Sharing Journey/Experience/Progress Updates Trying to solve my browser's daily work with 25+ tabs opened

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey there!!
One of the most common things we suffer as knowledge workers is the bunch of tabs we open daily for many purposes but the terrible organization we have for all these.

My problem was that no matter how I organized the browser, it never felt completely useful for working daily.

Ok, sorry. cutting to the chase!

My app, through the extension, allows you to create and activate/pause groups of tabs (creating packs) to recover the context of your projects.

You can save:
Notes: Using the editor or sending selected texts from the web (right-click) to your notes directly
Create tasks (checklists)

Work mode allows you to take all this information saved in a pack and give clarity (write some text, put a link related to that, add note with the findings, and a couple of tasks to complete that project)

Additionally:
- you can create Pinned groups for tabs that you use daily like email, slack, trello... and switch between pinned groups without interfering with your main tabs.

I'll be happy to add some value to people's lives, saving some time daily and organizing their way to work in the browser; let me know your doubts and leave your feedback here. I'll be happy to help.

Sharing Journey/Experience/Progress Updates just shipped multilingual support for DualProfile WhatsApp extension

Just dropped a big update for DualProfile. It lets you show different profile photos to different contacts on WhatsApp web. Your boss sees your professional headshot, your friends see the real you. Same number, same whatsapp, no second account needed.

Been getting organic installs from the US, Spain, Japan, China so adding language support felt like the right call

what just shipped:

  • 8 new languages — pick yours and everything in the extension translates fully
  • landing page also multilingual
  • windows bug fixed

Asking a Question What is the benifits of building an open-source extension?

Hey dear, I see many developers like you going with the open-source projects approach, while they have a really strong ground ideas and applications

I'm wondering what could be the benifits of doing such move especially in the cases where its easy to monitize their systems from the day one

I would like to hear your thoughts, Thanks alot!

Idea Validation / Need feedback I got tired of missing YouTube/Twitch streams because notifications fail, so I built a lightweight Chrome extension to fix it.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on called Content Reminder.

Like many of you, I noticed that standard YouTube and Twitch notifications can be incredibly delayed or just don't pop up at all. I kept missing live streams and new video uploads from my favorite creators, so I decided to build a solution.

What it does:

  • Sends instant desktop notifications the second a channel goes live or uploads a video.
  • Lightweight and runs quietly in the background without hogging memory.
  • Completely free and respects your privacy (no data collection at all).

It's still in the early stages, and I'd absolutely love to get some feedback from this community. What features should I add next? If you want to check it out, it’s live on the Chrome Web Store:

Thanks for checking it out!

Self Promotion From 50+ Tabs to Instant Focus

Your browser has become a to-do list.

50 tabs open. Can't find the one you need. Open a duplicate. Repeat.

I got tired of it and built Smart Tab Organizer.

Now I can find and organize tabs in seconds instead of hunting through a wall of favicons.

Idea Validation / Need feedback built a small system to check if my extension is ready for the featured badge

i have got a few featured extensions and along the way picked up a lot about what google actually looks for. so i built a small tool for myself that checks manifest setup, policy stuff and so on. basically all the criteria that matters.

saved me a lot of back and forth. now thinking about releasing it for around $5 per check.

would anyone here actually pay for that or do you just work through the docs yourself?

Sharing Resources/Tips Is it just me, or is the math behind Chrome Extensions depressing?

I was curious to find out how many daily new installs you actually need to reach an MRR of $1,000 within 12 months (which will hardly cover your living expenses in most countries).

I made an oversimplified calculation: let's say you have a freemium model, the free to paid ratio is around 1%, the monthly price is $2.99, and the churn is around 20%.

The result: You need 273 new installs a day to reach that goal after 12 months.

To be honest, that feels almost impossible to achieve, considering that most extensions you read about usually stay somewhere between 1 to 20 installs a day.

I guess mobile apps are far easier to monetize, since the user doesn't need to trust a random company with their address and credit card details. Additionally, I think people are just used to Chrome extensions being free. Even $2.99 a month feels like a lot to them, while the same price per week for a mobile app seems totally reasonable.

What do you think, are my numbers unrealistic?
What are your experiences so far?

Sharing Resources/Tips Easy way how to growth organic traffic for your google extensions.

So I don't want to open all secrets, but give you some food for thought.

  1. First of all. Title of your extension MUST contain keywords with proofed search value. Your cool names are mostly not useful for organic traffic. Noboby knows what are "GoodTube", "Zoomix", "ContextBridge" etc (examples from last days reddit posts). People search something like "Convert PDF to PNG", "summarize article", "color picker". Ask GPT to generate a lot of searching keywords for your ext and check them with seo tools. And of course you should set a lot of different keywords in short and long description too.

  2. Of course, if you want to acquire users from organic you MUST make what people search. And you should understand, if you create something absolutely new, with no competitors, you have no chance to obtain organic traffic. You can wrap something old in new cover, you can find keywords which not covered by competitors, but core functional MUST be already searched for.

  3. (this is THE HINT) 0-1 were needed as the basis for understanding this one. Chrome Web Store allows you to create 60+ pages for your extension for 60+ language locales. You could optimize your page for 60+ huge groups of people, most of them don't know english and don't use it at all. Same time 99% of Extensions in CWS have ONLY english page. Different statistics show different numbers, but you ignore at least 60% (some articles say that more than 90%) of chrome users. And same time you have huge competition when you try to fight for english speaking people only.

Think about it.
