This isn’t just good for Canada and all Canadians, he told the room, “it’s also good for the United States, because a stronger Canada is a better ally.”

Could have sworn I heard this before. Just not from Carney.

He wished the U.S. a “happy birthday,” and called it “the most dynamic, resilient and inventive country the world has ever seen,” with values that should “continue to serve as guides to its future and the future of the rest of the world.”

America serves as a guide to the future of the rest of the world now according to Mr. Carney.

He continued: “That future should include a new partnership with Canada,” one “that re-imagines co-operation in specific sectors that are deeply challenged by global competition.”

Does he mean after Trump or that he will work with Trump and now we can trust this new co-operation?

The fear drummed up against Canada’s neighbour and most important trading partner worked great for Carney politically — but how much has it cost Canadians?

I've said it before, I'm beginning to wonder about what really happened with that 'best deal' to alleviate tariffs that Carney campaigned on. Because while he was still giving off the impression that a deal was coming (there were even deadlines published for when this would happen), the LPC was stagnant in the polls. It wasn't until Carney began pushing that 'no deal worth the paper its written on' narrative that things began to shift.

I was just a B student and only got an undergrad degree from a crappy Canadian university. Yet, it blows my mind that this supposedly intelligent man believed that he would "end" the relationship with US. Get on a plane and galavant around the globe signing enough trade deals to displace the US. It was the heights of arrogance and delusion.

If you think that's bad, imagine the millions of people in this country that though he was doing the right thing?

It's unbelievable. Nobody seems to look at any hard data. Just cling to a plagiarized speech at the WEF. Carney is one of those guys that is good at looking productive and competent while being completely useless

You guys are delusional. Carney never said he would end the relationship with the US. He was quite clear there will always be a relationship, but we will not bend over backwards to accommodate the Americans taking advantage of our resources without Canada being justly compensated. He said we would expand trade with other nations so that we are not 100.% dependant on the USA and that is what is being done.
