They do this to protect the paint from scratches during transportation. Especially on the buses, where they slide them in on their side. But I assume the trucks also have the same issues.
EDIT: You can see in the photo that this was taken at Vireak Buntham Transportation (VET)... A large Cambodian shipping company.
