Interesting how it says “motherboard may vary” on the bundle list.

I saw that too, the other weird thing with this bundle is the CPU always comes preinstalled on the board as well.

I guess they forgot which boards they installed the CPUs on XD

EDIT: Guys, I know the reason the 7500x3d is sold only installed in a MOBO is due to the OEM/tray nature of the chip. There is no retail packaging for it. I just think its funny they don't know which board they installed it in and will come inside the bundle, that was all I was getting at.

I think it comes preinstalled cause there's no retail box for it, right? Maybe the point of it is "slap that oem CPU on the cheapest boards we have in stock and put them at this price."

I had always thought it was so that people couldn’t turn around and sell it at brand new in box

other bundles in my experience are in retail packaging, the 7600x3d one i got was so idk if its that

Yea I’ve bought the 7800x3d this is the only one I’ve seen where they tell you it’s gonna come in the mobo. I could see the oem argument too but I’m not complaining either way at that price.

that's correct, i picked up this deal few weeks ago and was very surprised that the CPU came installed on the motherboard. I really wanted CPU box, but i think it is Microcenter exclusive and it comes delivered in a tray.

Same. But saved me the trouble of putting it in I guess

In the 7500X3D’s case, it’s always preinstalled as it’s not meant for direct retail sale; it’s an OEM part that is meant to be sold in prebuilts, etc. Weird, I know, but I’d guess AMD didn’t want to have another X3D CPU undercutting the 7600X3D (another MC exclusive in the US) directly on store shelves.

7500X3D is tray-only, thats why.

Well this is microcenter

I just bought this deal yesterday and asked about this. The cpu was exclusive to microcenter and only in the pre-bebuilt powerspec systems. The motherboard it comes with at the Sharonville, Ohio location is the MSI B850M-VC Pro.

I'm not sure if it truly comes with other boards. However, if it does, I have a feeling they had way too many left from ordering for the powerspec builds and need to get rid of them.

you can get an asrock board too

1

u/TheMustachedDad Apr 25 '26

I just bought one. Its a microatx mobo but they have asrock and msi boards - I went with the MSI

Would get this if it came back at $231

9

u/CallMePickle Apr 10 '26

I assumed that was a pricing error. $231 would be so nuts of a deal. The RAM alone is like $150 on ebay easy.

6

u/illicITparameters Apr 10 '26

I paid $510 for the 7800X3D bundle yesterday.

3

u/CallMePickle Apr 10 '26

That's awesome man. Congrats.

3

u/illicITparameters Apr 10 '26

No, I’m saying at some point they may drop it down that low again for this bundle.

2

u/CallMePickle Apr 10 '26

I'll keep my eye out! Thanks for the tip.

1

u/illicITparameters Apr 10 '26

They tend to do these like almost secret flash sales in the morning. Ive gotten 3 bundles steeply discounted in the last 5 months this way.

3

u/elevensbowtie Apr 10 '26

They’re most definitely pricing errors. Sometimes happens when the individual pieces drop in price or if parts are swapped out in the bundle. You were fortunate to have the price honored but not everyone is as lucky as you.

u/693275001 Apr 10 '26

Maybe, I'm in no rush so I can wait for hopefully another error lol

they fixed the price mistake from the other day?

6

u/Desperate_Put_4568 Apr 10 '26

Maybe. This is the usual sale price.

mATX mobo combo at MC - happy Friday everyone!

8

u/FederalRadish2489 Apr 10 '26

How does this stack up to the 7600x3d? Is the $50 more worth it?

8

u/Desperate_Put_4568 Apr 10 '26

Differences are negligible from what I'm seeing. That 350 dollar bundle has the ATX mobo (vs the mAtx 7500x3d), so slightly better vrms and more room for future upgrades and overclocking. At 1440p gaming which is more GPU bound, I would spend that extra 50 on the case, graphics card or cooler.

4

u/DrKingOfOkay Apr 10 '26

7500 is better value.

5

u/Interdimension Apr 10 '26

The 7500X3D seems better value, but it’s one of those situations where you should just get the 7600X3D if your budget allows since it seemingly comes with a better MOBO?

IIRC, the 7500X3D is just an underclocked 7600X3D, which itself is an underclocked 7800X3D but with two cores disabled. All have the same amount of L3 cache for the X3D bit.

I’d guess the 7500X3D would likely win if we did an FPS per dollar calculation. So, again, how much is $50 worth to you for squeezing out a few extra frames?

2

u/FantomDrive Apr 10 '26

I did this calc a few weeks ago and the 7500x3d was the better value. Especially if you can put more money into the GPU instead.

3

u/Interdimension Apr 10 '26

Sweet. Appreciate you sharing this info.

Out of curiosity, what was the average FPS difference between the 7500X3D and 7600X3D? Just single-digit FPS differences?

2

u/FantomDrive Apr 10 '26

Honestly I don't recall. It was minimal and the extra cash went a lot further with the GPU in terms of getting more frames.

Hardware Unboxed just did a comparison of every X3D CPU with the 7500X3D and 7600X3D: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86SfJ_XwJ5Q&t=646s

wish there was an option for 32gb bundles

2

u/SD_Eragorn Apr 10 '26

A couple locations had this for $236.71 yesterday. Still a good price though at $300 imo.

1

u/FantomDrive Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 10 '26

I bought this a few weeks ago. It's been very good value and has been working as advertised. The Mobo is not pretty, but that doesn't matter to me.

The processor seems great so far and this setup gives you an upgrade path to higher end X3D chips later.

1

u/Desperate_Put_4568 Apr 10 '26

What GPU did you pair it with?

4

u/FantomDrive Apr 10 '26

I paired it with an old 970 for a month. Then I bought a 9070 xt.

I've only played Baulders Gate 3 but I can max everything at 1440P on my ultrawide monitor without using AI frames. I've been getting about 145 fps in the first stage of the game. CPU usage hasn't been an issue. GPU sits at about 80% utilization.

The CPU and GPU play nicely. I do think my 16gb of ram on a single stick is giving me a small performance hit.

1

u/TroubledMang Apr 12 '26

It is, and you can grab an 8gb stick if you want to save money. The 1st 16gb utilized will be in dual channel, rest in single IIRC.

Damn I wish I lived close enough to get this. Build another pc but for my youngest.
