Hey so I'm planning to get into the world of the Untamed I just have a couple of questions sorry if it's stupid.

Is it better to start the novel first or watch the series? Also this is the novel right? Is it just a standalone or are there sequels to it I'm not aware of?

Is Mo Dao Zu Shi Untamed but in animation form? Are there stuff shown there not found in the others? Also I see Word of Honor and Heaven's Official Blessing mentioned by others are they connected to the Untamed universe?

That do indeed be the novel. I personally started watching The Untamed, got 10 episodes in, was incredibly confused, went and read the novel, then went back and finished the show. It made much more sense after reading the book first. There are no sequels to the novel.

Mo Dao Zu Shi is indeed just the animated version of the same show. They all have slightly different versions of the same plot - The Untamed made up a new sub plot to distract from the gayness (unsuccessfully - the gay is right there if you know to look for it), I think MDZS is fairly true to the novel, just non-romantic.

Heaven's Official Blessing and Word Of Honour aren't connected to MDZS in any way, but all three are examples of the genre of Wuxia. Much like High Fantasy novels are set in worlds where there are orcs and elves, Wuxia novels are set in worlds with clans and spiritual cultivation (basically magic).

None of these novels or worlds are connected at all, but they are of the same style and there are similarities between them. Lots of swords, martial arts, Jianghu, clans and factions, and spiritual powers.
