FAQ About Visiting Bodrum

Questions frequently asked by visitors and answers frequently given by locals:

---

Q: How can I transfer from the airport to [Insert Hotel or District Name], should I take a Taxi?

A: From airport, taxi will cost an arm and a leg so unless money is not an issue or there is a necessity don’t take a taxi from the airport. There are paid busses that will take you first to the new bus station just outside the city and from there to the old station where you can take minibuses to every district on the peninsula, it’s the central hub for public transport. Same route applies for going to the airport but in reverse obviously.

There are also private transfer services, if you’re willing to spend money for transfer these are better than taxis, expensive yes but more reliable since you’ll know what you’re paying beforehand.

---

Q: Any places to go shopping?

A: Avenue, Midtown, Oasis, Bodrum and Yalıkavak Marina; here, you'll find local and global brand stores, prefer these places if you want to avoid knockoff products.

---

Q: Affordable beach clubs/bars/restaurants etc.?

A: There is no such thing as affordable in Bodrum. There are three levels of prices; 1- normalized expensiveness, 2-tourist traps, 3-venues that İstanbul socialites frequent.

---

Q: Recommendations then?

A: 90% of the places are seasonal tourist traps and the rest are non-seasonal, they are open all year round. In general, global brands like McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks etc. are a safe bet, neither cheap nor great but at the very least they have a level of standard and won’t give you food poisoning or try to scam you.

Other than that, there are only a handful of places that the locals frequent that have reasonable prices with trustworthy management.

Some that comes to mind:

Restaurants – Körfez, Arka Pizza, Gemibaşı, Musto, Chinese Inn, Eski Köy

Bars – Kule Rock City, Körfez Bar, Mandalin, Eskici Black

---

Q: How about beach clubs?

A: All of them are expensive, the ones in Türkbükü and Yalıkavak are İstanbul Socialite level expensive, try to stick to your hotels beach and if not available pubs/restaurants on the shores put down sunbeds in the morning, most of them are decent enough.

---

Q: How to decide which pub/restaurant/bar to go in?

A: Doorman at the entrance trying to persuade you to come in is an immediate red light, try to avoid these, especially the insistent ones. Beside that, level of occupancy is generally a good indicator, if it’s mostly empty there is probably a good reason for it.

---

Q: What's the best time of the year to visit Bodrum?

A: June-July-August is high season; it will be hot, expensive and crowded during summer months, prefer these months only if you want to experience the city while everything is in high gear and full throttle. If you want a more chill experience, from end of April to end of May and from September to mid October will be a better choice, weather is more mellow but still ok for swimming and city is not too crowded.

---

Q: Is Bodrum and/or Türkiye safe?

A: Depends on the circumstances ^^ Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.

 ---

I’ll keep adding to this as needed, recommendations are welcome.

Question / Soru Çalışmak İçin Bodrum mu? Marmaris mi?

Post image

Australian / NZ Lawyer or Notary in Bodrum

Hi all — slightly random one, but hoping there may be an Australian or Kiwi in Bodrum able to assist.

I am based in Milas and need some Contract / ID documents witnessed over the next week (deadline 1st June). I specifically need someone who falls into one of the following categories:

-Notary Public

-Australian or New Zealand Lawyer

-Australian Consular Officer / authorised Commonwealth employee (noting that the embassies / consulates are closed for Eid and the earliest appointment I could get is mid-June which will be too late for my timelines)

Happy to travel anywhere around Bodrum area etc. and of course happy to pay or shout coffee/lunch for your time.

Let me know if you might be able to help or know someone local who can.

Thanks!

Ad / Reklam Open dentist during Bayram/Holiday

Not really an ad, but it made me flair it.

A friend of mine has a small dental clinic in Turgutreis that will be taking appointments during Bayram in case you need some treatment.

Emergency appointments are available, too. Feel free to DM me for information!

Hi everyone!

I am due to be in Bodrum for the final day of the premier league on 24th May. I am a huge Arsenal fan and would like to watch the final game of the season (hopefully a memorable one!) in Bodrum.

Can anyone recommend a good football or sports bar in bodrum which will be showing the Arsenal game?

Thanks in advance!

Bodrum pricing mid range

Heading to Bodrum in June .

My wife and I like a drink in a bar / pub but aren’t really too fussed about the high end beach club type places.

How much is a beer for example in bar / pub place.

Same goes for food we’re eat in restaurants but probably not your top of the range ones .

Will this be affordable ? I’ve heard it can be very expensive !

Bodrum & Istanbul Trip Advice

Hi everyone, we are a group of 6 guys going to Bodrum & Istanbul this June. Bodrum will be June 19th - June 22nd and Istanbul is June 22nd - 26th. Hoping to have a very eventful weekend.

We've chosen M Gallery as our place of stay in Bodrum, heard a lot of good things about the edition and MO but haven't heard anything about M Gallery. Would appreciate if someone can share their experience at M Gallery.

In Istanbul we are staying at MO

We are a fun group of young men aged 24 - 27 and enjoy partying, exploring, and meeting new people. I'd appreciate if anyone could help me out with the following.

  1. Best nightclubs or good time spots in Bodrum and Istanbul, along with the table prices if you have an idea

  2. How do we go about renting a yacht for the day in Bodrum. (preferably with jet skis included) or if we should go for any boat party instead

  3. How can we rent super cars in Bodrum and Istanbul (any info on this would be greatly appreciated, we will need 3 super cars in each destination.

Also, we're keeping around $10k each as a budget for everything, is that enough for the best of the best or do we need to increase it.

If anyone from this sub is going at the same time DM! Let's get together for a fun time!

Appreciate your insights and thanks for reading till the end!

Are tourists avoiding Bodrum due to the war?

Hello all, I’ve been intending on visiting Bodrum this summer however a couple friends have expressed concern over visiting a place so close to conflict.

Are tourists actively avoiding Bodrum? I wouldn’t want to visit it at its lows

Thanks!
