Character discussion Saw the final episode again this morning

From the final 2 episodes 2 things stood out for me and i wonder if you guys think it would have made less impact if it had done sooneer.

  1. Amy's make over. She changed her hair, glasses and clothing style. She even seemed different in personality. Would it have been different if they had done this sooner or not all?

  2. Sheldon's "epiphany". Amy confronted him with his behaviour, nothing new there, but she added that he broke his friends hearts and the only reason they are his friends is because, they know he usually doesn't know he's being "himself". And apparently this made an impression on him and he changes his speech completely and thanks all of his friends and calls them his family. Beautiful moment, full circle for his character growth. Was this the best moment for it?

Leanard should have been the experimental physicist that proved the theory and received the medal with them. That Pemberton/Campbell storyline was ridiculous.

I don’t think it was too bad, it showed some character growth from Sheldon (sticking with Amy and competing against Pemberton/Campbell and potentially losing out on the Nobel vs ditching Amy and joining them which would greatly increase his chances at winning).

Offtopic but yes agree. Guess they didn't want him to steal Sheldon's light or something

I liked the way they handled Amy’s makeover. Even more so since it was Raj who helped push her to do so. I always felt that was a nice touch.

Amy lighting into Sheldon was a good reality check for him, and I think that when he asked Amy if she felt that way, and she responded that sometimes she did, was the final straw. Despite Sheldon’s lack of intimacy with Amy, he loved her deeply. Sheldon’s speech was an amazing ending for the show, even more so after Young Sheldon, and seeing the struggles he had to connect with people. To suddenly realize he wasn’t alone and really did have some amazing friends who helped him reach that point was incredibly heartwarming.

2 was the best moment , how he realized his mistakes and that he wouldn't be there without his friends

I was disappointed that they made the woman who didn’t want children pregnant

I feel it was sudden, but I wasn't bothered by it. Bernie also didn't want them and ended up with two.

So like individually that's not a problem, but there is an overall kind of subtle trend in media to say childless women are never truly happy. You see it here and also in himym for two fairly recent examples.

Isn't that the same as ppl here saying raj shouldn't have remained single? As if being single is a bad thing.

The fans saying something isn't the same as the show itself saying something. Now the people making the show itself might not be intentionally doing it, but there is a message of "women need children to be truly happy" in the show. Having Penny just go from ""i never want children" to "i am pregnant and happy about it" with no storyline about it is... odd and reinforces a problematic concept

I think it was better if Leonard and Penny ended up like the "cool uncle/aunt" of Wolowitz's and Cooper's kids

You mean the woman who changed her mind regularly and expressed many different thoughts on the subject?

  1. Would WHAT have been different?

  2. I don’t know. What do you think?
