Australian Sale Different prices from same dealership

I'm in the market for a new vehicle. I filled out a dealership's online form and a rep reached out. Since then I've visited him and negotiated a car for $40,600. All ready to sign

I took a few days to think. In that time, my mate called a few dealerships to try sus the market for me.

Now another rep at that same dealership is offering the same car $39,000.

I feel bad for the other rep but it wasn't like he was super helpful, just gave me pricing and contract. What's would you suggest is best course of action?

The “deal” a dealership will work can vary from day to day (literally) depending on their appetite to move cars… This is an extreme example but if the store didn’t sell cars for 2 days in a row they are going to want and need to make some sales happen and do whatever it takes to make some sales happen… Going the other way, if they have a couple days ina row where they kill it and still a ton of cars they may not be as desperate and drop prices as much..

They may not be exactly what’s in play here though🤷🏻‍♂️

When I was shopping I had two sales people from the same dealership DMing me (“lead” was generated through a Facebook page post) one of them said their online price (with addendums) was their best/only price and the other said he would take off $1000 and cut the addendums in half lol so it’s more granular than dealership level it seems to be Sales person specific because the message from both were all within about an hour of eachother lol thought it was interesting

Good point cuz it that can happen too.. Appetite can vary from sales manager to sales manager as well (it shouldn’t but it can).
