Australian Sale Signed, paid deposit, car needs paint, still on lot… can I still get an independent inspection?
I need some advice please. I’m in NSW Australia. I’ve never purchased from a dealership before and I’m anxious about it all.
I signed and paid a $500 deposit on a $10K car that’s not “ready yet.”
I got an invoice receipt and the dealership’s bank details. Nothing else.
I told them I’ll be paying cash and then I get a phone call hours later from the sales manager trying to talk me into finance. So then the deal isn’t finalised?
I’ve decided that since it’s not ready and waiting for paint, I want to get a mechanic there to do an inspection while it’s still there and while I haven’t paid. Am I within my rights to do that still or I signed now so I’m screwed?

We can't speak for the specific dealer. Ask them if you can get the car inspected.
