Yes. It was something only Black and some Latina ppl were doing until like 5-10 years ago.

First let’s discuss the historical context of it.  You tell us about edges in history , why it’s done, why it’s copied, how ppl were treated

I dont think i fully understand the question. Esged were created back in like 1920 i think, it was Josephine Baker to do it first. Historically people have always been nasty about curly hair and said it was unprofessional, so people slicked their hair down. Edges were like an artistic spin on that need to keep their hair slicked down. Some things like braids and locs i think have very very complicated history, and so do edges but i think to a much lesser extent.

Personally i just thought people who werent black do their edges today cause everyone has babyhairs and wants something to do about them. Some people im sure are disrespectful about it, but i think a lot of people just cant figure out wtf else to do with their baby hairs and think edges look elegant.

I seen people say that like its appropriation because "your people call my people ghetto for having these hairstyles, but then you want to do them", but i dont know what to do when im supposed to own up to what "my people" have done, if i personally dont think anyones ghetto for doing that then what do i do? (im kinda high rn sorry if i lost the plot and was jut typing shit, also i mean this in a genuine curiousty and not like argumentitive)
