I'm all in for helping each other, but it was getting out of hand, starting to look spammy. Why not post asking for work or offering services instead?

Thank you, mods!

Hey mods, I totally understand that constant requests for money can be tiring, particularly in these difficult times. However, in the South African spirit, perhaps we can crowdsource a list of organisations to approach for people going through hard times.

I'll start: For new moms, try looking up moms' groups on Facebook in your area or surrounding areas, they will often have free or heavily discounted items.

I was going to say this. There have also been posts where people have made suggestions places to get food cheaply and such. I feel like a megathread of these sorts of resources would be good

I get it. Not against it at all. It's not fun 'burdening' or being 'burdened'. But also life is incredibly unpredictable who knows what tomorrow brings. So a little sensitivity, empathy, grace for one another that's all. Just saying.

Reddit is completely anonymous. If someone is truly in need of help, like formula for their baby etc. They should have no problem asking on platforms like Facebook where their identity can be verified. Usually specific area groups are very willing to help, and it makes it easier because the community will ask where they stay and then drop off items directly. Think of groups like "I love Fourways"

This is not the right place for asking for help

My dear, I’m sure you’re willing to tell us how many times this month you assisted someone asking on Reddit. Please go ahead …

Reddit is a public traded platform and never was for begging it’s for intellectual curiosity and thoughts. If they lose users you have no platform to beg.
