First International Trip to Aschaffenburg/Frankfurt. Looking for Weekend Recommendations

Hi everyone!

I’ll be traveling to Germany for the first time in the next few weeks and I’m honestly really excited. I’ll mostly be staying in Aschaffenburg for work for around two to three weeks, but I’ll have my weekends free and would love to explore the area a bit.

Since this is my first international trip, I’d really appreciate any recommendations from locals or people who’ve spent time there. I’m open to traveling by train or metro on weekends if there are nice places nearby worth visiting around Frankfurt or other nearby towns/cities.

Would love suggestions for:
place’s to visit
good food or must try local dishes
cafés, pubs, nightlife spots
scenic places, hidden gems, local experiences
any tips/tricks that would help a first timer in Germany

I’m also a pretty spontaneous person, so I’m definitely open to random plans or checking out things I wouldn’t normally find online. Even if it’s just a cool local spot to hang out at on a weekend, I’d love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance! Really looking forward to experiencing Germany and making the most of my weekends there 🙂

Gully (THE pub of Aschaffenburg)

Human (cafe, bar, sometimes DJs on the weekends)

Colos-Saal (Live music, various themed parties on the weekends)

monochrom (bar, night club, ask around to find it, it’s kinda secret)

If you are into electronic music don’t miss the UNTEN AM FLUSS event on June 6th.

Urbani Häcker (scenic vineyard, local wines and other drinks served)

Visit Seligenstadt for the ultimate romantic German old town experience.

Schönbusch (Park)

For Aschaffenburg you should definitely visit the castle. Idk when ur gonna be there, but in summer, there usually are all kind of events in front of it. If ur there I recommend walking down to the riverside and enjoying a nice stroll alongside the river. On the weekends, you'll find shops selling beer and pretzels, it's always pretty packed but a great place to meet new people I suppose. As for food in Aschaffenburg, there are some great cafés I really enjoy like Panda Yuai, an Asian inspired cafe selling Matcha, coffee and chinese streetfood. Other cafés worth mentioning include "Schwarzer Riese" (a café with an interior that almost feels like someone's living room, so very cozy) and "Fräulein Liese" (very modern but also small café/restaurant with great and healthy food options). For actual restaurants I recommend trying "TEMPVS" 's Pinsa, "Wurstbendel Wirtshaus" 's Brizza ( a fusion between German Pretzel and Italian Pizza) and Enchilada (Mexican inspired restaurant with amazing cocktails if ur looking for that kinda thing). If there isn't an event like a festival or something, I fear there really isn't all that much to do activity-wise. You can walk through Schönthalpark or go shopping in the mall, at least that's what I do with my friends usually haha I hope I could help u a bit

Most probably I’ll be visiting in June. I really appreciate you giving me all the authentic and local details.
Also, do let me know if you want to catch up when I’m there for a stroll or coffee. Cheers

We have our "Volksfest" beginning at the 19th of June, like a small Oktoberfest. Thats probably the most known international term :) Starting and closing with fireworks around 10 pm. If you arent on the shy side you can meet people there pretty easily

On a nice day I'd definitely recommend to take a walk in the Park Schönbusch. It has some history and was specifically designed and the vision cones were maintained while the city grew. So there are angles where you can still see the castle in the distance. Really worth strolling a bit further than just the inner core ( which has a lake, a labyrinth, a nice beergarden to enjoy beer and pretzels and other snacks. )
