Visiting Any recommendations for a cabin rental near a lake or stream?

I recognize this is probably a long shot, I have been searching through old posts and have gotten a few ideas, but I am hoping someone might have a solid recommendation for a good cabin rental.

For a little context, I love camping and grew up doing it a lot with my family. My wife refuses to go unless they have a private bathroom and a shower so I figured a cabin rental might be a good compromise. I was hoping to find a spot near some water so my toddler can splash around a bit and maybe I can do a little fishing. I was thinking possibly near Sedona or maybe out in the payson/rim area. We did Greer a few years ago and that area is absolutely beautiful but it is pretty far so I was wondering if anyone knows of any places a little bit closer to Phoenix?

Haven’t been there in many, many years, but my dad rented a cabin at Lake Of The Woods for a family getaway. Caught the largest bass in my history in Arizona there.

Hope that isn’t too far for you.

Maybe Christopher Creek cabins? We stayed there last summer and had fun. Some of the cabins are right on the creek. The creek is very small though, but it's a close drive to the lakes up on the rim. https://christophercreekcabins.com/rentals/

Village of Oak Creek has cabins on the creek just outside of Sedona. Check out Junipine Resorts.

Village of Oak Creek and Oak Creek Canyon are different places. Junipine is in the Canyon.

Alpine, Az. Big Lake. Or skip a few miles over to Luna, NM :)

Mount Graham may have some cabins people rent out too.

State parks in Payson at the Natural Bridge Arch put some tiny houses in for rent too. Good luck!

If you rent at Christopher creek, you can day trip down to diamond point and look for Payson diamonds (double pointed quartz crystals)

We recently stayed at Northwoods Cabins in Pinetop and had a great time. The drive is beautiful and they are right next to the main lake there.

Zane Grey in Camp Verde has tiny cabins for rent with a very short walk to clear creek and it the closest to Phoenix. It’s the nicest water you will find in Arizona

Lake of the Woods (Pinetop)

Orchard Canyon on Oak Creek (Sedona)

Strawberry Inn (Strawberry)

Christopher Creek Lodge (Rim Country)

Mt. Lemmon (Tucson) has a lake and you can rent cabins through USFS.

I grew up near Oak Creek where it runs through Page Springs and Cornville. Maybe an air b and b in that area or in the Verde Valley near the Verde River could be fun and a little different than Show Low or Payson. I haven’t checked any availability but there should be something.

Hawley Lake. You'll need a permit because it's on the Rez.

I wish they took better care of the cabins. Ours had tons of mice.

Rose canyon lake on mt Lemmon is really small but the town at the top summerhaven is really cool and has affordable cabin rentals available on many sites. They also have a tiny home hotel and a lodge style hotel on the main strip about 4-5 miles from the lake.

Really tiny lake but high elevation and coming from Phoenix I’d recommend the trip especially if you have a jeep or pickup truck even any SUV with good tires can go up the back way from oracle. Maybe take the senic route and stop at the monestary in Pinal county and than go up the back way it goes by peppersauce caves. It’s mostly a dirt road for 20 or so miles and the last few miles by the top is like a 4x4 trail because it’s rocky and steep but it was really easy when I did it a few years back a CRV could have done it. Leave early spend the day making stops and going up to stay a few nights and when you leave go down the paved road stop in Tucson for lunch and hop on the i10.
