Cast iPlayer via Apple TV outside UK

We used to use Passepartout VPN to cast BBC iPlayer to our non-smart telly via the Apple TV box, but it doesn’t work anymore. We’re not in the UK, for reference. Does anyone know another way to get iPlayer to cast with this setup?

This happens a lot now. iPlayer blocks VPNs pretty aggressively, and Apple TV setups make it even more unreliable.

I had the same issue and got tired of constantly reconnecting and switching servers. Ended up using LivingAbroad.tv instead, and it’s been way more consistent without the casting headaches.

I find StreamVia VPN has worked consistently for iPlayer the last 15 years (you do also have to create a BBC account with a valid UK postcode, any postcode, they don’t seem to check). I can watch iPlayer on a laptop or phone etc with StreamVia. For now we’ve gone low tech to get it onto the telly - good old HDMI cable from laptop to telly
