Update New rule - Activity

Over the past year, we've had loads of random people come in here on new accounts who seemingly just want to start arguments. So to combat this, we're putting in an automatic activity filter as most of the issues come from people with new accounts.

If you have less than 100 karma, and/or or an account that's under seven days old but are a real person who actually wants to engage, send us a modmail and we'll approve you.

This is slightly inconvenient, and the system isn't the best, but for the time being, this will have to do.

Announcement r/Anthroposophy is back!

After an almost year-long process of getting this sub, it's back! As you may know, i'm also the mod of r/Steiner, and i hope you join that one too! But anyway, back to the original topic.

The original mod of this sub was saying some extremely questionable things in the name of Anthroposophy, and was eventually banned (rightfully so) for his comments. Then, the subreddit was put into restricted mode for a while, and after that while i obtained the sub via a reddit request. I've made some changes to the sub, but it's still a work in progress.

If you think you can, or want to help, in any way, please message me or comment on this post! But anyway, welcome back to the sub, let this be the start of a new golden age of Anthroposophy on Reddit!

Edit: we have a discord! Invite link; https://discord.gg/97tHXy8SCj

Update Bringing Rudolf Steiner's Spiritual Science to the World Kickstarter - One Week Left

This will be the last announcement about this, but there is ONE WEEK LEFT of the kickstarter;

If you were thinking about pledging, now is the time, and you only have one week to do it. The books, prints, badges, and everything included in the reward packages are very high quality and we have gone to great lengths to make them available.

Not to mention the extremely important goal of the campaign; if you care about getting the work of Rudolf Steiner out into the world, and especially into the hands of young people, the campaign does just that. It is potentially a very important step in making Anthroposophy more accessible, and more visible in the wider world.

If you want to help and can afford to do so, please consider getting a copy or two.

Question Natural Science at the Goetheanum

Hey everyone!

Has anyone done the Natural Science program at the Goetheanum? This one:

https://studium.goetheanum.ch/en/natural-science-training#

If you have, what was it like for you? How academically demanding is it? Is it possible to do it while also doing formal graduate studies?

Ahrimanic beings may actually be Gog and Magog...look at what I found

In different religious traditions, Gog and Magog are savage half-beast half-human tribes that are enclosed somewhere on earth, and will break out in the end times to wreak havoc on humanity.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gog_and_Magog

It has been said they will appear somewhere in central Asia. This event is also connected with the appearance of a messianic figure who will defeat them.

I found this description quite similar to the description of the Ahrimanic beings, who live in the subterranean environment of the earth.

"Ahrimanic beings struggle to harden man; they want to make him like themselves. Were they to be successful, man would become extremely clever in the material realm—incredibly clever and intelligent.

They cannot achieve their end directly, but they aim at doing so indirectly. And their efforts, which have actually been going on for thousands of years, have in fact succeeded in producing a whole race of sub-human beings. Their method is as follows.

...

There exists already on the Earth a whole population of beings who have arisen in this way. They are there, in the elements of earth and water, a sub-human race. And then what is it the Ahrimanic powers intend with this sub-human race? As we have seen, they draw out of a human being his instinctive nature and make of it an earth-and-water being.

These earth-water beings inhabit the strata immediately below the surface of the Earth; and those who go down into mines, if they are able to look with spiritual vision, are quite familiar with them. They are beings that have been snatched out of man in the moment of death."

GA 218 V. Luciferic and Ahrimanic Powers Wrestling for Man

https://rsarchive.org/Lectures/PlanSphere/19221116p02.html

How many of this race has been produced? In another lecture, the number is provided - 800,000,000 beings.

We must proceed from the same soul and spiritual powers that live in our mechanistic culture, which has produced seven to eight hundred million specimens of the subhuman.

GA 334 1. Paths and Goals of Anthroposophy

https://rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA334/English/SOL2024/19200105s01.html

This is where it gets trippy. I was reading this post 2029, is this the year the hidden realm of Agarttha will reveal themselves again? A book from 1922 claims they will. by user mattperkins86, and noticed the same number.

We may appear to have wandered far from the “Great Agartthian School: of Hardjji Scharipf. After the trauma of the First World War, the very name of Agarttha might have been forgotten, and Saint-Yves’ book might have sunk out of sight like many an occultist’s fantasy. But in 1922, a Polish self-styled scientist named Ferdinand Ossendowski published a sensational travel and adventure book.38 It told of his flight through central Asia in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution. While in Mongolia, he heard tell of a subterranean realm of 800,000,000 inhabitants called “Agharti”; of its triple spiritual authority “Brahytma, the King of the World,” “Mahytma,” and “Mahynga”; of its sacred language, “Vattanan”; and many other things that corroborate Saint-Yves. The book ended on a dramatic note of prophesy from one of Ossendowski’s informants: that in the year 2029, the people of “Aghardi” will issue forth from their caverns and appear on the surface of the earth. The prophesy was attributed to the King of the World then he appeared before the lamas in 1890. The King had then predicted that there would be fifty years of strife and misery, seventy-one years of happiness under three great kingdoms, then an eighteen-year war, before the appearance of the Agartthians.

Original source here: https://hermetic.com/godwin/saint-yves-d-alveydre-and-the-agartthian-connection

One user, Mmm_360, even noted the same thing:

"Islamic prophecies belive in the yajuj and majuj who are a tribe of people hidden from the world behind a "great wall/barrier". They will escape the from their hiding before the final hour and cause chaos on the earth."

"Evolution of Archon" Theory (My Theory combining both Steiner's beliefs and New Agers)

So apparently, there is a hierarchy regarding archon entities. Apparently, there are the Mantids who are the bosses of the Reptilians who bosses the Gray Aliens.

Then I thought this actually sounds strangely similar to the Asuras (humans in Old Saturn), Ahrimanic entities (humans in Old Sun), and Luciferic entities (humans in Old Moon).

What if this is basically a downward evolution while maintaining a humanoid body that has the ability to shapeshift into anything it desires?

Under this situation, the current Asuras who are in their mantid stage right now under the Earth's 4th stage of the 7 planetary cycle, the Asuras were probably in their Reptilian stage when the Earth used to be in the Old Moon stage.

This is pretty much the only explanation that makes sense to me while becoming more degraded in the long run while maintaining a humanoid form with a cold, logical (machine-like) intelligence.

Like just how the insects became reptiles which became primates which became humans, this downward evolution seems to be a mockery of this forward evolution of Darwinism.

Any thoughts regarding this theory of mine?

Update Bringing Rudolf Steiner's Spiritual Science to the World

Anyone who's looked into Rudolf Steiner's Spiritual Science knows that the resources often aren't... the best. As someone who's spent many an hour crawling through RSarchive at midnight, it's not often clear as to where to find what you're looking for. Which is a problem, which is probably being fixed little by little.

But if you're a beginner, looking for a good general introduction to the topic, you probably won't find any good resources, maybe someone might suggest the philosophy of freedom or theosophy, which are great books, but maybe not the most suitable to beginners.

...

I'm sure you've figured out that this is just an ad for a new book by this point. But it's an important ad!

If you're a beginner, this may be your chance to get a copy of a new book, which specifically is an introduction to these ideas, it goes over everything you might need to start in an accessible way. And there's suggestions on resources and what to read next if you're interested in any specific topic.

And if you already know about these things, this is your chance to get a new nice hardcover copy of this book, AND to support something which might just be instrumental in the bringing of Rudolf Steiner's spiritual science to the world.

Basically, we're doing this as a kickstarter, so if you give £25 (or equivilent) you get a physical copy of the book, a digital copy of the book, a eurythmy figure pin badge, and a year's subscription to the Epoch. If you give more, there are more things you can get, and if you give less, you can still get cool stuff.

The Kickstarter does have a goal, but we can (and ideally will) go above that. The more we have to put towards this extremely important goal, the more we can do. If we can do this, we really can make an impact. This book can be available the people who are interested in these things and would like something to read as a beginner. This book can go out into the world and find those people who might just have been looking for it without knowing what "it" was.

And just to give some background, this very website was taken from nothing to thousands of people seeing it and clicking on it in a few months. The same story is true with many other similar projects for beginners (which are seen by hundreds of thousands of real, interested people), and this is just the start. But this has all been on a budget of basically nothing. There are no wealthy benefactors funding us, there was no real way of funding these, and the amount spent on all of this combined over the last three years is probably much less than the goal of the kickstarter.

So, just imagine what we could do if we hit this goal. Or even, if we went above it.

And this is where you can come in. This is where, without being a wealthy benefactor, almost anyone can contribute to the bringing of spiritual science to the world. And without a doubt, it will make an impact. And you'll probably hear about it.

So let's do it. The kickstarter is below.

Question Am I under Ahriman/Lucifer's influence if I make it my whole identity to craft fantasies and imaginary comforting worlds through the art form of songwriting and music videos?

Because I see myself doing that, coloring my hair, loving my false personality, writing songs that express genuine deep seated emotion that feels therapeutic but also leads to egoism. As an example is attached a music video I created that I find comfort and ego pleasure in.

Would it be the wrong path?

Question Does Anthroposophy have hymns like various dominations of Christianity?

It’s not a religion. It’s a school of thought, I realize this. And I still have a lot to learn about it and how it’s way of thinking contributed to that who taught me - (I never went to a Waldorf school as such but was taught by Waldorf trained teachers!) and there’s a lot I can’t grasp about it and May take years for me to understand…but by god am I going to try.

For now though…I was kind of wondering if there are any songs or other such musical ways of engaging with it like there are with Christianity (depending on the denomination I imagine), I have heard of eurythmy but I’m not entirely sure what it entails beyond moving to music in a specific way…if I’m not mistaken going off folks I’ve talked to over the years involved in this field and those similar Steiner’s ultimate goal was to bring humanity closer to Christ’s word through the lens of science effectively marrying the disciplines of science and religion and I’m hoping that by studying the Bible through the lens of his thinking and lectures I’ll be able achieve a faith and way of thinking that ultimately benefits me. And I am uniquely situated as someone taught by Waldorf trained teachers the benefits of Steiner’s way of thinking even if there may be some parts I don’t entirely agree with…

I’ve also listened to some episodes of Waldorfy and seen The Challenge of Rudolf Steiner so I kind of know what else has come out of this way of thinking and how it relates to other movements of his like Biodynamic Farming and the Campbell Hill Movement…I’m not completely clueless but there’s still a lot for me to comprehend as the guy I alluded to said over the phone to me years ago “it would be nice to just take a pill to understand it” but unfortunately that’s not an option…

Does anyone here actually read Rudolf Steiner?

Does anyone here actually read Rudolf Steiner? I ask because I have tried, and it seems like over intellectualized philosophical goop. I do love a lot of his teachings that have come through, and agree with many of his values. But, the actual lectures to me seem like ramblings from someone lost in the spirit world. Teachers of meditation warn not to get lost in the lure of other beings. This is thought of losing sight of the main goal of spiritual progression. Where it seems like Steiner teachings is that contacting this world of beings is the goal. Sure, it can be done, but you can also simply just get lost.

Now, I have not read enough to make a proper verdict of my thoughts on Steiner. I am also sorry to be critical. Just curious what your thoughts are on this criticism. I wish I could read more but I don't think I can bring myself to. Maybe steer me to something brief I can read that shows my initial impressions are wrong. Thank you.

Question Meditation help

I recently came across the '69 edition of Steiner's Knowledge of the Higher Worlds. I'm interested to try out the introductory practices outlined within (such as observing something growing and something withering), however I'm not sure how to begin. As it is spring here, there is not much to be found that is withering or dying (that I can find easily), and doubtless in the winter it will be the opposite problem. Similarly to the sounds of animals, and the comparison of animals with stones.

Those of you who have practiced these sessions consistently, how did you achieve it consistently and reliably such that it fits into your routine? Are these exercises possible or worthwhile in the modern day?

Many thanks for reading, please feel free to suggest any other tips that made it easier for you, or that I should take into account.

New to Anthroposophy and looking for the best books to start

Hi everyone, I have recently discovered Anthroposophy and I am very interested in learning more about Rudolf Steiner's work. Since he wrote so many books and gave so many lectures, I am feeling a bit lost on where a beginner should actually start. Could you recommend the best books for someone who is completely new to this and wants to build a solid understanding of the basics? I would love to know which titles you think are essential for a beginner. Thank you for any help!

Hello,

Can someone explain to me what "unraveling" means in the anthroposophical/Waldorf pedagogical sense?

Thanks

Question How do you experience "the ego"?

As the title says I would be interested in getting to know how other people experience their ego.

As far as I am aware of it is the concept "I" that I consider to be me.

How do you experience it?

Catholicism and Steiner

Something interesting I wanted to share.

One of the contemporaneous popes to Steiner was Pope Leo XIII, who restored Thomism to the Church.

"As you know, by an order of Pope Leo XIII, the doctrine of Thomas Aquinas was declared the official philosophy of the Roman Catholic Church."

https://rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA201/English/RSP1972/19200515p01.html

St. Thomas Aquinas was Steiner's previous incarnation, so that shows Pope Leo XIII's favor of the Michael stream, even though it was a centuries old expression of it.

However, the Church was not open to the Michael revelations of the time, which took the form of anthroposophical spiritual science.

I recently saw a post on Facebook, which I've copied below, citing the work of the reincarnation research group "Transpersonal Lives", linking the individuality of Pope Leo XIII with the current Pope Leo XIV.

"According to Transpersonal Lives, Leo XIV had previously been Leo XIII, the Pope of the Workers. Born Robert Prevost (1955 – ) and Gioacchino Pecci (1810 – 1903), his recent/current lifeworks address the same challenges — how to defend human dignity and social justice in times of acute crisis. Now it seems in times of war too.

Upon his election, Leo XIII immediately set out to revive the theological system of St Augustine (later George Santayana) and Thomas Aquinas (later Rudolf Steiner), wishing to make it the official political, theological and philosophical foundation of the Catholic Church. Curiously Pecci, Santayana and Steiner were contemporaries during the 19th century; making Pope Leo's wish a bridge-building opportunity for Anthroposophists:

https://www.transpersonallives.com/recurring-collaborations-2"

https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1758909191746290&id=1535929524044259

We also know Steiner said he would incarnate around this time as well.

Given Pope Leo XIV history in his past life, I wonder if the Michael stream may find a renewed opportunity in the Church, especially when the individuality of Steiner appears again.

Mall World Dreams

Does anyone here have any thoughts regarding this phenomenon?

Because I do have a theory in which Mall World happens to be associated with the Eighth Sphere and the Metaverse.

Think about it. Apparently, the Eighth Sphere can be accessed via visionary-imaginative clairvoyance (astral projection). And also, I know for a fact that the Eighth Sphere happens to be a dense realm that mimics the physical realm but it is actually the astral realm.

And guess what? The Metaverse plan happens to utilize virtual reality alongside augmented reality which allows the individual to experience the 5 physical senses inside the virtual reality place. Sounds extremely similar to the Eighth Sphere in a way.

And regarding Mall World, I am able to feel the 5 physical senses inside the astral realm, which sounds similar to the Eighth Sphere.

So that's why I associate Mall World dreams with the Eighth Sphere and the Metaverse. It's all the same in my perspective.

Eighth Sphere

I definitely know regarding Rudolf Steiner's version of the Eighth Sphere in which it strays away from reincarnation, and apparently the soul just remains there without any spiritual growth/ evolution.

Anyways, there is apparently another Eighth Sphere theory floating around on the internet in which the Eighth Sphere is a false heaven which perpetuate the reincarnation cycle onto this physical realm we happen to be in. Apparently, this is the Catholic version of the Eighth Sphere.

Now which one is it?

Because I don't want to be reincarnated ever again in this matrix.

The East in light of the West

Relevant statements for our time.

The greatest and most real problems of the present, and of the immediate future, concern the relationship of the East and West.

Western scientific civilisation, with its commerce and industrialism, must expand. Its inner impulse is to expand over the earth; moreover, it has apparently the outward power so to do. But the East is not meeting this expansion passively.

On the contrary, there is every sign that the East is awakening to take a very active part in determining the forms and conditions under which this expansion shall take place. Here arises a question fraught with the gravest possibilities for good or evil.

Will the Western and Eastern civilisations, deeply different as they are, blend and harmonise? Will a fuller humanity arise and develop in this process? Or will they clash in spiritual conflict, and at last in external warfare?

…Asia possesses the heritage of an ancient spiritual life, which for her is above all else. This spiritual life will burst into mighty flame if, from the West, conditions are created such as cannot satisfy it.

…The Asiatic peoples will meet the West with understanding if the West can offer them thoughts of a universal humanity…

When the peoples in the East hear that the West has fresh knowledge on those very subjects of which their ancient traditions tell, and for the renewal of which they themselves are darkly striving, then will the way be open for mutual understanding and co-operation.

If, however, we persist in regarding the infusion of such knowledge into public activity as a fantastic dream of the unpractical, then in the end the East will wage war upon the West, however much they may converse about the beauties of disarmament.

The West wishes for peace and quiet to achieve her economic ends and these the East will never understand unless the West has something Spiritual to impart.

In the West there is the potentiality of a living, spiritual development. From the treasures she has collected by her natural-scientific and technical mode of thought, the West has power to draw forth a spiritual conception of the world, though what she has drawn forth in the past has led her only to a mechanistic and materialistic conception.

On the redemption of spiritual values in the West it will depend, whether mankind will overcome the chaos of today or wander in it helplessly.

About Steiner and his teaching
