Just like game plot, this feels extremely rushed.

The animation is great, but the pacing was way too fast.

We get the evolutions, the victory against the Rose, the battle and finale all at one episode.

Out of all seasons for anime adaptions of the games, this might be the weakest one yet.

Well, this is Journey after all, so they're not exactly adapting sw sh, you could tell from the first 20-ish episodes, i prefer it this way since it's not like the story of swsh was super cool, better if we revisit all the other regions for more potentials i would rather have Ash and Go face zapdos/mewtwo/etc than a whole adaptation of swsh

I like the series, but as I said before in another post, this doesn't negate the fact that it was rushed.

Although the series isn't focus on Galar as a whole, it had some proper build up.

  • Eternatus appearance during 1st visit
  • Meeting Leon and Rahan.
  • 1st appearance of Sonia

I don't need a whole season on this arc. I just think this series just need a little more build up which they could have easily done.

  • Have the cast visit a mural for a brief moment in one of the episodes
  • Legendary Dogs episode earlier in the series
    • Have the cast asked Galar residents about the dogs leaving to no explanation over time
      • This would also foreshadow Sordward & Shielbert for the future.

Just doing that gives the arc more enough time to properly pace the whole arc like the evolutions and the final battle.

Oh, yeah, having the first episode of the arc independent from the arc itself (though it still probably would've needed a "4th episode" probably would've helped a bit too, good call.

You missed the point of this season. It was never to focus on Galar or Eternatus.

It’s Pokémon Journeys. It’ll never stick to one arc for long. Look at how we’re getting Mewtwo in the next episode right after the DD arc.

I am not complaining about the premise, but it doesn't negate the fact that this is rushed arc.

The series could have continued its subtle foreshadowing and build up like before.

  • We saw Eternatus during our first visit in Galar.
  • We met Leon and Rahan
  • 1st appearance of Sonia

We had numerous episodes in Galar that could been used as build up as well:

  • Have the cast visit a mural for a brief moment
  • The casts meets the dog episode earlier in the series
    • Have the cast asked Galar residents about the dogs leaving to no explanation over time
      • This would also foreshadow Sordward & Shielbert for the future.

With one extra episode for this 4 four episode saga, the evolutions and the final fight could have been more evenly paced out.

Eh they had to slip in the whole plot of SwSh in a few episodes and while the execution was not perfect and not like the halcyon days of XYZ, they still did a pretty decent job. It’s not the anime’s fault that the darkest day arc is so shallow. Sordward and Shielbert content doesn’t link up well with the DD arc. They were just...there, at the end of the game and played no role whatsoever in the main events of the darkest day. They just suddenly became “kings” and suddenly wanted to claim the rusted sword and shield.

I am overall more excited for Mewtwo and SwSh isn't' my favorite game, but just having a little more content would have been enough.

The Dog episode (placed earlier in the show) could have ended with the cast talking to Galar residents about the dogs, but no-one knows about the dogs making the cast assume that it was a hallucinations.

  • Go destroying the mural would confirm that the dogs are indeed real
  • It is up to the series if the series want to continue focusing on the mystery of the Legendary Dogs after Eternatus Arc.
    • If it wants to, we could get Sordward and Shielbert's cult
    • If it doesn't, it doesn't matter at the end.

Such little changes could make a huge difference which is why it is frustrating to me to how it was played out.

Why are you being downvoted? It seems that negative criticism is not allowed here.

It doesn't matter since it doesn't changed what I feel about this arc.

I explained in other replies how the arc just simply needs a little more extra content.

  • Dog Episode should have been shown earlier giving more time for the arc to pace itself.
