This episode was so low-key heartwarming. Shamiko going into Momo's dream (well, nightmare) and making/helping her clean the place up showed how nice she really is. (I especially liked the callback)

Then finding out that Momo tried to make the hamburg steak she promised to Shamiko, but it didn't turn out too well. Shamiko ate it anyway, as she's used to low quality food because of the family curse, and even gave cooking tips for Momo's next attempt. Not to mention inviting her for "hamburg steak" dinner.

Then the two of them ending up as a prospective hero duo that protect the city. Just wonderful. (Although Momo obviously has some dark secrets.)

This show definitely deserves more love.

This show definitely deserves more love

I was almost going to drop this show because the first two episodes were kind of lacklustre and I felt like the nice girl Yuuko really got the short end of the stick inheriting the family curse, but I'm glad I gave this show a chance. It took a while, but I started to take a shine to the rest of the characters, Momo especially because of her overall kind nature contrasted against the dark secrets in her past.

So far it the characters remind me of Hitori Bocchi from last season because the characters are innately good and friendly people, but the setting is different because they've sort of been pressed into bad circumstances either by fate (Momo's past as a magical girl) or by birth (Yuuko's ancestor in the Dark Clan) to be in conflict with each other. The early episodes have this bittersweet feeling because there's this sort of undercurrent where if one side "wins" it means that the other side "loses" instead of the sort of joint victory that you get with friendship. I really do hope that they become a hero duo together like that though and resolve that tension.
