I feel like, overall, in the anime, every character's overall look is better... except for the magical girl. In the anime, she has a weirdly elongated face, which makes her look far more aloof and... less human. But also more 'cool' instead of 'cute', so maybe they were just trying to go for that.

On the other hand, Yuuko overall was turned more from 'moeblob' to 'cutie-patootie stupid girl'. I like it, honestly.
