I always look forward to Mitsuki and his antics, would have been interesting seeing him sage mode the fuck out of Shinki.

Anyways, how the fuck would a 3 man finals work anyways? Giving a bye to someone is unfair, a round robin wouldnt really work if someone gets beat up enough and a 3-way ffa is much less so since it allows for teamwork...

As mentioned below, victory is not a prerequisite for passing, and in some ways changing it to a three-way improves the exam in terms of developing skills, as you have to be either strong enough to fend off two people or smart enough to convince someone to side with you

I think it's acceptable to reward villages who can get two ninja to the finals with a possibility for teamwork.

I might be misremembering but isn't sage jutsu banned in the Chunin exams? Wasn't that why Naruto failed the second time?

Yeah it is banned. But iirc Naruto's second chunin attempt isn't canon? Idk where I got that from, but that's what I remember

Naruto's second Chunin attempt was exclusive to the shippuden anime.
