I really enjoyed this show! I liked how each of the team members got their moments despite being in such a condensed timeframe. For the most part, it didn't feel like anyone was pushed too far to the back. I do wish there were more scenes of the actual performance because those would have been really cool to watch, though it looks like the animators put in the work to make those cheerleading scenes more fluid than the usual animations. That ending sequence had me smiling the whole time! Good feelings all around.
I feel like Cheer Danshi leans more towards the Ping Pong type of sports anime where the focus is on the person who participates in the sport instead of the usual sports anime like Haikyuu or Kuroko where the sport and the hype of competition itself is the main focus. For example, we don't get to see their final results, however we got that scene of them excitedly promoting their team on campus. The show chose to focus on the characters' (as much as they could in 12 episodes) growth and happiness instead of the team's placings.
